Well the stress of things is starting to get to me. Two days ago I was having a stressful day, and from 1:30 til I went to bed I was having chest pains, and I wasn't sure for what. Now today I'm in a meeting where we get chewed out and the pain starts again. Blegh.

I did buy $6 in powerball tickets (jackpot $129 million), but I'm thinking that's probably not going to happen...sigh.

You should get that checked out, if you haven't already. There are some really benign causes of chest pain, and some really problematic ones. But the problematic ones can generally be fixed relatively well IF they're caught before everything goes kablooie. And trust me, you don't wanna be stuck in bed in a cardiac ward with dementia patients accusing you of stealing their beds and having catering staff refuse to give you coffee or salt...

I'll call my doctor tomorrow, but she'll probably tell me it's nothing. I did some googling the other night and I couldn't figure it out. The biggest thing is that it hurts more when I stand up than when I'm lying down, and I can't find anything like that.

Haven't been doing any heavy lifting lately? A benign cause of chest pain is damage to the cartilage between the ribs - sometimes hurts like hell but heals itself quite fast.

When I first start teaching full-time, I kept getting what I called "Heart Palpitations". It felt like my heart would do little flips over and over again. The doctors had me where a heart monitor for 24 hours and then told me it was stress and that I need to calm down. They also gave me a prescription for something to help calm my nerves but since I really don't like to take pharmaceuticals, I just learned to deal with it using deep breathing. It also helped to vent my frustrations to my husband when I got home. He very patiently listened to my rants without trying to fix things for me. It seemed like once I got it "off my chest" the stress decreased.

So, in other words, Lilac, don't hold it in. Just vent here and maybe that will help.

Nope, not at all.

I had those palpitations a few days ago. I have Xanax in case of emergency, when a day is looking bad, but the other day I took it after the pain started and it did nothing at all, unfortunately. I vented off earlier to my mom, but really I just don't like my job, and feel trapped now that I have this house to pay for and to top it off I have no idea what I want to do

+ yes + I've had a couple of episodes of chest pains- the first time I went to the emergency room and was released after a couple of hours. The second time many years later I went through a battery of tests, in particular a Stress Test and was given a full and clean bill of heart health. Still no idea what the pains were about...

Definitely go to the doctor, calling is not enough. And try to find relaxation methods that can work for you, anything you can do often during the week to relieve some of the pressure and help you find your balance back (for me it's yoga and walking - and at times swimming). Then you'll be able to focus on the future in a more efficient way.

And write. A lot. To us or to yourself, but keep track of how you feel physically and emotionally. And writing can also help to sort out stress factors and diminish them (when you think of five things at all times, they look a hundred times more impressive, and it's so much more complicated then when you have those five things neatly placed on paper, confined to a small space!)

Oooh, and go pet your beautiful kitty!

Keep us posted sweets! Hugs!

Well, since Lilac wants to change careers, her future is really bright; as you and I both know some jobs can make you mad.

Now, how come your family visits so often??? Can't you call your mom and invoke a really dreadful and contagious virus that "ô the injustice!" forces you into a quarantine?

How long does the visit last this time? I'll be thinking of you!

Oh, and you can focus on another part of the future where you'll be seeing the back of your mom's car, grabbing your bathing suit and heading to the beach with the Loved One and the googies!

Not only the views... The prospect of insane giggling, goggie scritching, spa sessions and Zany Carters galore only makes one wanna visit even more.
