You have to totally change your behavior. The habits you develop when you smoke are very hard to break. Thanks guys, and also congrats for those awesome milestones!!!!! What troubles me is how smoking always stays in your mind, even after years... shitty thing, really.

Question: I'm coming down with the mother of all indigestions (that's why I'm home, my boss kicked me out because I look green), and I wonder if it could be a side effect to the quitting. The first time I quit, I was shaking uncontrollably and losing my balance a lot, but this time around, there's nothing like that. I hate being sick and I'd love to be able to blame the addiction (one more reason to never start again).

It really depends on your mindset doesn't it. You can look at it and say:

YES, 5 days, I am awesome... If I can do it 5 I can do it 10!

or...

Holy crap 5 days without a fix, I'm dying... I can't get to 6.

I like counting because it allows me to say things like: " Hey honey, tomorrow is my first month without smoking, and how cute is that shirt? ". Thankfully, my honey gets those kinds of blatant hints, and even sometimes gives in!
