Well EowynCarter I posted more than just that one line, didn't I?

You are kind of fast in your conclusion that I only registered to say I didn't like Bookeen devices. I do like my Cybook, a lot, I just do not like to be kept on hold by any firm in that manner. And that's what made me decide that, when my Cybook needs replacement, to find another brand. It's a free world.

Imho Bookeen is digging it's own grave with this marketing strategy. If you do not have a deadline then don't say anything to the public. Now everybody is waiting (and bitching about the company). I personally am waiting for the epub support so I can finally read some dutch novels on my device.

In the mean time, you can convert ePub to mobipocket with calibre And think about the Illiad users who will never have ePub... So as long as we have ePub someday, i'll be happy.

And then people would have been whining about "no news", all the same result.

An other firm might not do better. My choice of brand will usually be "Who is selling the device that is the closest to my need at the moment i need it".

I use Calibre, it's the best, but the Dutch books I want to read have DRM so converting is not an option.

That's what I did too. Device-wise that worked, but next time I will add a requirement: Decent customercare. Lesson learned.

But I will stay hopefull and check bookeen again tomorrow.

You'll probably have to deal with drm if you want to convert your mobi to ePub. Both mobi and ePub drm can be taken off

Bad customer care ? Trust someone how was stupid enough to break her screen, they have a pretty good support. My reader was fixed in no time, and that sure compensate for delayed updates. Having no ePub, or even my opus crashing every now and then, don't prevent me from enjoying reading. A broken screen certainly does.

It is unlikely that I will, ePub may be the best thing for ereading as sliced bread was to the sandwich maker - but unless they come up with a dictionary support, I'll be declining even just on that issue.
Also a significant number of my books are dammed drm'd. One main change-maker would be a restricted supply of mobi books for us Europeans......

No way I'll need anywhere close to that many before I have to at least recharge the reader, if not reformat and all that crap because it's messed itself up again. Plus, the more books, the longer the turning-on time. Just seems totally unnecessary, and in fact, causing yourself grief for no good reason.
Well, first, because I can! There is 512 Mo after all. But you're right, it is frustrating...which bring, second, because I can't choose!! You might be a very sensible and organised reader, I definitly am not

I tried the 20 per page, it's not working. The title is not readable anymore and since I don't remember the books I put in, just that I wan't to read them when I put them in, I need the title and the author. If it was a real list, without the cover, it would work better I think, but as it is, not helping.

I always likes to have many books with me and now that I'm not limited by their weight...
Besides, the magic (and advertising!!!) of an ebook reader is to have a full library in your hand.
I can't resist putting as many books I wish to read as I can, even if I know I won't read them all at once, they are here in case I feel like reading one. Depends on the moment.

And THEY promised a folder management...

I'm sorry, I don't agree at all. I can't imagine any firm offering worse customer service than Bookeen does, which is why I now use an ECO reader and enjoy excellent Australian based service.

Depends what your priorities are, Alex. The Opus has the best ePub support of any device that's currently on the market. One cannot "knock" Bookeen for that - they've done a superb job. Yes, it crashes on the odd occasion, but not frequently enough to be a problem (for me).

As far as "support" goes, what problems have you personally experienced? I've always found Bookeen's support to be helpful and efficient on the occasions that things go wrong.

I have to second Harry's question ? In what circumstance did you needed bookeen support ? or ECO's ?

And "support" to me is : providing bugfixes (The opus need that but it will comes). Providing replacement / repair when the reader got broken, bookeen certainly does that part. (And in my case, they managed to surprise me by how fast they where).

Yeah, at fist i though i wouldn't need folders. That why the no folders on gen3 didn't bother me. Just make sure you have only the few books you're reading right now. Now i have it, i realize how useful it actually is, and folders are on the requirement list for any reader.

If folders are important to you, why did you buy a cybook anyway ?

I think, an important part of support is "can easily be reached via phone and/or email" AND "quick and duly answering of my calls/emails"... Not one of Bookeens strongest features...

BTW: You're right, having a good repair service is nice, but with dropping prices that (sadly) becomes more and more useless... (some devices even can't be repaired anymore!)

I saw my broken screen on Friday evening, had them on phone on Money evening,to ask them why my mail had no response. Said response came up the next day. That's not what i would call slow.
