LOL. Dan Brown fans aren't endowed with any sense of shame.

I'm reading it on my Kindle now and liking it so far. I've not had issues with formatting, but I honestly don't give much of a crap about that stuff anyway as long as it's not littered with typos etc. I don't care so much about justification issues and what not. Text is text to me.

Yeah, but are you just now trudging through the beginning of The Formula?

1. Langdon is summoned,
2. Langdon flashes his Mickey Mouse watch,
3. you are told about Langdon's claustrophobia,
4. you meet the antagonist (a psycho with weird skin),
5. you meet the dark-haired, beautiful scientist who will accompany Langdon on his adventure and
6. you get a flashback to a Harvard symbology lecture.

At some point early in the book Langdon also has to swim a few laps before donning his turtleneck and Harris Tweed jacket.

The Formula is not always in this particular order, but if you're early in the book I would guess you're still slugging away at this part.

I finished reading it at the weekend and even though I had approached it with low expectations, it failed to even meet those. Regardless of whether you think his work is good or not, this simply wasn't even a good dan brown novel let alone anything else.

Yeah I'm still on that part.

I'm no huge Dan Brown fan, but I like to read fairly disposable stuff. Working in academia I seldom feel like reading much for leisure period, much less reading serious literature, non-fiction etc. Rather read some fluffy stuff to help me fall asleep and not require much mental effort.

Anybody else noticed where Dan Brown got his 'inspiration' this time? Yes, from "What the bleep do we know" ...

I don't think we can be sure of that. It read like the same stock attempt to blend new-age spirituality with physics that I've heard a million times. He could have gotten it from Conversations with God, Deepak Chopra or Oprah.com's Spirit Channel podcast.

It's written as a movie and that's what it is for, pure entertainment, nothing more.

That's fine and good, but it failed to entertain.
