back on topic
I've had the Opus 5 days, and I'm seriously considering returning it. Without a sleep mode, it's just not very useful to me. I'd rather carry around one of my older hand helds. At least they have instant on.
I am now zero for 2 Cybooks. I had the Gen3, and I didn't like its hardware design either. Last edited by Nate the great; 09-23-2009 at 08:15 AM. |

Nate, why don't you just turn it on in the morning and leave it turned on all day? You'll get at least 1-2 weeks' battery life from it that way.
It only takes 15s to boot. Hardly an eternity ![]() |

It would be nice if it had a sleep/screen lock mode available.

You know those little rubber stops that are on the inside of kitchen cabinets to keep them from slamming closed? Basically they are round silicon discs about 1/4 inch in diameter. You can get them from any hardware store and they are sticky on one side. How about applying one of those to the inside of the cover near the buttons. The idea would be for it to bump against the case, not the button, when the case is closed. This would make it more difficult to accidentally press the button. |

Not yet, but tested it thoroughly for three weeks.
Have a look at my extensive review here on MR (sorry, right now only in German, still waiting for the English translation) with a bunch of screenshots linked at the bottom. Last edited by K-Thom; 09-21-2009 at 05:19 PM. |

How do you now that? I have not yet seen anybody report how long the battery last for the Opus with it constantly on. For the Gen 3 it is 100 hours. Do you know that it is much more for the Opus? I am interested to know this so I can tell people asking me about readers about that.
