@CheriePie the debug output indicates your computer is not detecting the Kindle at all, which is why calibre cant find it.

Yes it does, and I transfer files via this mode quite easily.

In any case, I updated my debug output above, as I'd inadventently unplugged the USB when I ran it the first time. d'oh

See my updated output. I had made a mistake the first time and had unplugged my USB. The corrected output is in the original message.

And woot woot! Now the button is lighting up this time now too. Go figure! Perhaps I have to make sure to do the USB connection while calibre is already running. First time I couldn't get it to show (and I did have the USB in that time), I had it hooked up before I'd started calibre. In any case, it's working now. Yay!! :cheer: Thanks!

So one thing I might want to point out to the other person who also said they were having this problem, and what seemed to be the quirk for me. Try plugging in your Kindle AFTER you've started up Calibre, at least for the first time. This is what "kickstarted" it for me and got it to recognize. Time will tell if I have to do it in this order every time, but indeed the first time it was properly detected was when I did it in this order so you might want to give it a try yourself if you're still having trouble with the K2 detection.

I had the same experience. I couldn't get Calibre to recognize my K2 the first two times I tried. Decided to give it one more try today, but had opened Calibre first just so I could watch it go through the motions. Voila, after about 2 minutes to detect (just as I was giving up and opening a command window to run debug), there it showed up.

Thanks for your help. After trying at least 5 times, I powered my laptop down, went to dinner, and came back to try it again. Of course now it works. I have no idea why but I'll take it.

The latest Calibre seems to detect the K2 just fine. Just FYI.

Calibre Books go to "Personal Docs", when the should go under "Books" in Kindle

Calibre is great for fetching Google Books and converting them to Kindle format, but for me they always end up under "Personal Docs" rather the under "Books" on my device. Is there a way to fix this?

Definitely not my experience - all of my calibre-created books show up as books, not personal documents for both my K2 and DX. Are you running version 6.x of calibre?

Hey G:

I'm not sure how, but problem solved. I downloaded the most up-to-date version of Calibre, deleted the books under "Personal Docs", then connected the Kindle to Calibre and uploaded the books again. This time, the books ended up under "Books" on my Kindle.

Thank you for the idea G!

Nice!
