Anyway I already have the Target AC charger, but thanks. Just wanted to know how owners of the charger like it, and if it is okay to use. |

the charger is a box that has a fold out set of prongs for US 110v, or fold out 12v car adapter, and a USB port. It also comes with a cable that goes from USB to barrel connector for Sony PSP. I got it so I could charge in the car if I wanted to, and didnt know about the USB part till after I bought it.

For someone that doesn't want/need the slight added bulk of the micro USB connector, the following cable will plug directly into the DC input of the Reader and then you can connect the USB to anything that will accept a USB connection to charge (wall charger, PC, cigarette lighter adapter, etc). http://www.focalprice.com/product_730.html |

I have a cheap adapter bought from an electronics shop. It has several voltage steps, 5V being one of them.
I think it has a maximum charge current of 900mA. In this thread I read that the Sony charger has a maximum charge of 2A. Amazon sells one of 1A. So, I would like to ask the following: 1. Would 900mA be enough, or am I risking to burn the adapter? 2. If 1A is enough, why would Sony sell a 2A charger? 3. Has anyone ever measured the current when charging by adapter? I think I'm going to try the adapter all the same. I just need to wait for the battery level to go down. There's no risk to the reader, as I'll use 5V, which is lower than specified. |

Hi all you lucky people who can get your stuff via your local stores, we can't even get the Sony e-book here in Australia.
I had to buy my PRS 505 via the net & as it didn't come with the adapter I've read with interest your comments. I have a Motorola adapter for my phone that says : imput 100-240 50/60Hz 0.2A Output 5.0...550VmA. The one connector end ( the small end)looks the same as the one end from the USB cable that came with the reader which incidentally looks the same as the Sony camera, can I assume it'll work on the reader. I'm not good with these things & can't afford to mess up. Cheers snowy |

Unfortunately, a USB wall charger won't work--it'll actually drain the battery instead. You need to find a PSP charger that plugs into the little round hold.

A PSP is a PlayStation Portable. A Google search for PSP chargers will bring up a variety of them in the $5-$10 range.

The USB charging cable that I linked above will work to charge the 505, only the link to the cable is now dead.
Here is a new link. http://www.focalprice.com/CA078B/USB...ble_Black.html |

A question
![]() Did anyone check their adapter with a Multimeter? I just bought a non official adapter for psp, a cheap one (10$ aprox) in a popular shopping center here in Spain. Here's a pic: ![]() The multimeter I used is a proffesional one I`ve been using for years, so I can say the V is correct. It says 5.49V instead the 5V it should be giving me. Guess better I dont risk my reader and buy a Sony adapter. |

Also, I think it's not the volts that hurt you, it's the amps. (Or something like that.) BOb |
