those are good for tiring out kittehs. or a laser pointer. just keep it away from her eyes.
I was thinking about one of those. She loves the laser pointer.

I think she wore herself out now..

the good thing is kittens need lots of naps. my cousins had some of those fishing toys and their kitten LOVED them, she would take these unbelievable acrobatic leaps in the air like spiderman. crazy how much lift those beasts can get ! i'm thinking of getting one too but so far one of my cats' favourite toys is the feather duster type thing, she likes it when i hide it underneath something (a bag, a blanket, whatever) so she can "sneak up" on it.

My dogs LOVE the laser pointer! But, we have to be careful because the youngest of the three won't watch where she's going and has a tendency to run into things like walls, doors, furniture, etc. I love her, but she's not the sharpest tack in the box!

my cats *usually* don't crash into things, but they do get a bit carried away sometimes... i wouldn't have thought of playing with a dog with a laser pointer, i didn't know they liked that sort of thing.

They INSANELY love it!! We had the regularly old red laser and then I got Zack the green laser from the "Think Geek" catalog and my dogs went NUTS over it! The green pointer is easier to see especially over a longer distance, so we use it in the backyard and wear them out before bedtime!

hm, maybe i should get a green one. i've got a red one but it works better at night obviously. just try explaining that to the bug when she's harrassing me for it in the middle on the afternoon. sadly, thinkgeek won't sell to me, so i'll have to see if i can find one here.

Airedale Terriers can be quite unfamiliar with the word "around", taking the word "through" in its place. With their ramming crest, this can make for certain minor upsets sometimes (like broken security glass doors, irrelevent flyscreen ones, and that old favourite, shattered knees).

Cheers,
Marc

I bought David the really powerful green one that "Think Geek" offers where you have to use a key to turn it on. He was pointing it down the upstairs hallway and it reflected off the bathtub in the bathroom at the end of the hall all the way back at him. It scared him so much that he sent it back the next day. He was worried one of the kids would get a hold of it and use it irresponsibly. Thankfully, Zack's isn't that powerful.

Thankfully, my dogs are a Sheltie and two Shih-tzus! So far, the only thing they seem to damage is themselves. The other day, Asia hit the wall so hard she had to stop and shake her head a bit. I was worried she had given herself a concusion, but after a few seconds, she went right back to chasing the beam!

hm, haven't seen those ones. actually i doubt i'll be able to find one here ; i think they've been outlawed or something. even the red one is pretty strong when the batteries are new, i have to be really careful because the cats know where the light comes from (me...) so if they "lose" it they look back at me, like "hey ! what are you doing ???" and it reflects off any somewhat shiny surface as well.

They probably should be outlawed here as well but the green ones are great for pointing out stars. Living it bit further out in the country, the stars are bright enough to really see them. The only thing we have to make sure is that there are no airplanes in the area as they can see the beam, too!
