It worked once and now it's crashing at launch ("normal" 0.6.11 with 10.6.1)

I find it works intermittently on 10.6.1 with calibre 0.6.11 (normal build) without Rosetta. Will work for a while, then crashes for no apparent reason or at the termination of an add book or conversion job, then usually takes several more attempts to restart it without crashing. Seems no different to me than it did under 10.6.0 with 0.6.11 or 10.6.0 with 0.6.10.

I am running 6.12 on 10.6.1 and getting it to work mostly. I have to start it with Rosetta and it crashes after adding books, but it did add it and convert to mobi. Haven't tried sending to device yet.

On 10.6.1 with 6.12: Crashes immediately without Rosetta, starts with Rosetta, but freezes on adding a book.

Hi all, me too. It crashes when I try to add or delete books. Also it crashes when I try to convert a lot of manga to LRF. Any idea how to solve it??

After a week of immediate crashes with 6.10, 2 beta versions, 6.11 and 6.12 with and without OS X 10.6.1, I am amazed to report that 6.12 with 10.6.1 and Rosetta runs, if a bit slowly, without crash so far.

I have been busy updating my recipes and loading books onto the Kindle.

What a reflief to have a working Calibre again!

Gang, we are overlooking the obvious. It is a simple formula:
Kovid + Intel Mac + 10.6.1=SL and future version development=happiness and many smiles for SL users.
So the question then becomes how we bring Kovid together with an intel mac. Two options. Either someone has a beat up old intel mac they can donate (and a big heart) or at $20-30 bucs a piece there are probably enough of us to get a mac mini.

I'm not a good organizer for such a project but...if someone wants to run with it...

I have been hunting Craig's List for an Intel Mac but I have not been successful. Well, nothing cheap anyhow.

A new Mac Mini is $600... If we could be 60 people to chip in $10 each Kovid would have an intel mac mini with SL on it.

One could also go a much cheaper route and setup a Hackintosh on some sort of netbook or even small PC. Might be more feasible.

I should note that my current MacBook G4 was also donated by a MR member Still I'd suggest waiting a few days, another dev is trying to debug calibre on SL, if he succeeds there wont be any need for me to have a Mac.

That sounds like a good idea. I have seen it online though I have not done it myself

I'd be more than happy to chip in $20 if the other developer doesn't work out.

I can chip in another $10 or $20 too. I figure that even if I switch device, it would probably still be something supported by calibre, so for a program that I use for several years, that is really no big deals.
