Oh Boy, this is one of those books that are soooo strange that you sort of feel like you are in the situation with the characters and join in their reality. Very disturbing.

The Earthquake Bird by Susanna Jones is a very twisty, quirky, didn't see that coming dark mystery set in Japan.

Already suggested one but forgot one of my favourite reads this year - The Quincunx by Charles Palliser - this thing is like a roller coaster of twists and turns and black turning to white. Unfortunately not available legally as an ebook because this is one that the Sony 600 notetaking and dogearing ability would be brilliant for. I read it once, despite all the warnings, confident that a few notes and my keen analytical brain would keep me sorted - however, I now agree with all of the reviewers who said that I could read it all over again and still not be entirely sure of what I think the truth really is.

Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. Victorian gothic, but with the kind of twists you asked for - though not all at the end, some will appear earlier in the book. And much better writing than Dan Brown

I do not know that book, but I trust you. However there are quite a few suggestions that have absolutely nothing to do with that the the topic starter was asking for.

Which suggestions? I'm just curious, because the suggestions seem, to me, to take the OPs requirements into consideration.

The books in George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series might be right up your alley.
