English is a mish-mash of everything from latin to french to germanic, speanish and internet speak. The occaisional foreign word doesn't other me so much (it's not like he made the whole post in arabic).
Indeed, that is a strength of the english language, its just a minor point that this isn't what is happening here, which is simply typical internet messageboard behaviour and an attempt to create some kind of meme or in-joke.

Indeed it takes more then 3 people using and 6 recoganizing it from one forum to make a foreign word accepted in english language.

meme or in-joke indeed, also old time definition of trolling - raising discussion on an old in-joke.

Please would members (particularly delphidb96) try to remember that this is an international forum, and that stereotyping a whole nation is not only inaccurate but also impolite.

I see, so stating that one would NOT speak English to anyone is okay, but I'm a 'bad person'. Yeah, right.

FUN FACTS: The French in "French Fries" has absolutely nothing to do with the people of France. Rather it comes from a culinary term, meaning to cut into thin strips.

That forthcoming Asus ebook Reader looks pretty astounding, when you think about the advancement in technology and what makes it possible in today's technological arena.

The fact is, there are so many new (and newer) players entering the market that I'm almost overwhelmed at the choices - and I already have a number of ebook Readers that I rely upon.

In just 10 short years, these Readers have come to play an important part in our reading habits, and they have even created new readers (people who read books, I mean), merely BECAUSE of the ease (more or less) that allows one to sink into a full chair with hundreds of books sitting comfortably in one's lap.

No matter what the term - and I personally don't care for the term that 5 or 6 people in a forum composed of thousands bandy about -- ebook Readers are incredible machines. Languages come and go, and some words just fade away and are forgotten, but these ebook Readers keep advancing.

That Asus ebook Reader has me drooling, which doesn't help my keyboard any.

I came here to read about the new Eee Reader (what a cool play on the name BTW), but instead see discussions on liseuse. It seems that there are only a few who want to use that name and they are destroying the forum with promoting it's use. People (non MobileRead forum members) are starting to know what an e-reader device is and now some want to change the name. No one will know what you are talking about. We want to promote e-reader devices, do we not. They are electronic reading devices and e-reader suits perfectly. I have been a member of this forum for most of this year and I have only just learned of the term liseuse. I even have to check on how to spell it every time I have to type it. I'm sticking with e-reader & I think that Eee Reader is such a cool name by Asus. Let's stick to the topics please. If you must promote liseuse then keep to it's own thread please.

One more thing that looks good about the Eee Reader is that if it folds up then the screens are protected. I love that idea.
I forgot to mention that the screen folding up also looks VERY interesting to me, as well. It sounds really, really good, and I can't wait to see what comes of this.

Me too! Think we can convince them to loan us a couple of advance copies so MobileRead members can supply reviews and pre-hype the device for them? This looks like something I really want, though only those like me who are interested in multi-use devices will desire this type of solution over a dedicated ereader. (And thus I've probably launched us on another flame war comparing and contrasting the relative merits of dedicated ereaders verses multi-task devices that can perform ereader duties.) Multi-task ereaders Rock!

Shoulda Woulda Coulda, it still is not going to happen. The word e-reader is now part of the technical jargon, and not likely to change just because a few people would prefer something else. "Liseuse" would have never been accepted by the technical community that I know in any case. There is really nothing wrong with each individual language having it's own word anyway.

As it gets closer to production (or when they're actually about to be released), I'm sure myself or another Moderator here will request one so that we can offer a Review right here on Mobileread.
