Great news Gideon, congratulations! It's tough looking for work in a downturn and many people have to compromise and work outside their field. Glad you have found a job that's the right fit.

And, may I add that, knowing that you've been a religious studies student as well as a wearer of pants, that whenever I see the title of this thread I read it as "Woohoo! Job!" (i.e., Job not job).

What wonderful news! You know, I made the same decision about 22 yrs ago. I quite the bank where our only product was turning money into more money. Went to work for a much much reduced salary doing something similar to what you will be doing, working to teach adults to read and so on. I remember one woman who came into class on a Monday and announced to the whole room that for the first time, she had been able to read aloud her part in Sunday School the day before. You can't get that kind of feeling from banking!

It's good to hear good news in the job hunting area!
My husband is in that unfortunate club of laid off professionals and I do sometimes fear that I'll become "barnlessmom", but we're still putting our faith in and taking comfort in God's provision! The Lord gives and the Lord takes away.

I'm glad for you and the position you've been given!
