Dictionary.com lists the word as a noun first, an adjective second.

I think I might prefer your statement though. That way I can modify something else, but not be responsible for it (kinda, sorta, maybe . . . maybe not).

That's probably becuase they're recording how it is used, and many people use it incorrectly.

If you want a noun, use the word women. I see it being misused a lot lately as well. It's often used as an adjective.

The implied noun being modified is hoomin which, as far as I'm concerned, is the only relevant part (as unfortunate as that may be).
