In July my washing machine started to leak when I was doing full loads, so I learned to make medium-small ones.
Last week my clothes dryer stopped working for no good reason and I really can't afford to have it looked at before something like mid-October, so I learned to use systematically the clothes line and the shower curtain pole in the bathroom. Five minutes ago a corner of the heating element of my oven exploded in a big white flash. Now that, I can't believe, and won't learn to live without. Am I aloud to scream and swear as loudly as I can??? |

It must have been very frightening to see it catch fire, Cat.
If it's a new cooker then is it still under warranty? If not, then you might post a message on your workplace notice-board asking if anyone either knows a good repairer, or has a used cooker for sale. My neighbour had a clother-drier catch fire, but that was because she had never realised that you had to take the lint out of the filter. |

It was very frightening - a big magnesium flash that blinded me at first (I'm not even exaggerating!).
Thanks Patricia, but this oven is close to twenty years old, it would probably cost more to repair than to buy another one. My brother bought it used a couple years ago, his girlfriend thought it was garbage and threw it out, so my parents recuperated it for me. I think it lived it's life...and went out with a bang! I'm currently looking at new models, Sears has some that are affordable. Next month I'll buy one, and in the mean time, I'll try to find someone who can lend me a small table oven toaster, and I think I can safely use the top of Oldie for soups and pasta. I'll dream of nasty appliances that are trying to kill me tonight... ![]() |

scary !!! i'm glad you're okay !! definitely time to replace it, i think. you don't need any more indoor fireworks of the electro-ménager kind.

![]() Just got the dreaded "blue screen" after CRASH on Vista. Crucial driver was corrupted. Just restored back to last known good configuration. I believe it was an automatic update of my security software, which I lost and had to re-install. ![]() Couldn't even get on-line chat support to check into problem, so I just deleted my security software and re-installed it. ![]() Things seem to be back to normal, I hope. ![]() |

What IS it with people getting all bent out of shape about completely minor things? I'm really getting tired of people chewing out other people for perfectly harmless terminology. Call whatever it is, whatever you like, in whatever language you choose, but stop being so darned nitpicky about what someone else calls it!
There, I feel better now. |
