After almost three years of use (and how long before that since it was manufactured), the battery is not holding the charge as well as it did at the start. The almost 7,000 page turns is now more like 4,000 to 5,000 page turns from a full charge. I have never just "let it just rest" for a week so I cannot comment on the rate at which the battery would discharge on its own.

There are replacement batteries for sale at low cost on eBay and instructions on MobileRead about how to dismantle/reassemble the PRS-500, so pending the Sony solution to PRS-500 and ePub, I may have the same unit for the next 7,000 posts.

Congratulations. While Patricia and I have book postings to boost our total post count, you have Harv & Vera. Who* among us has not thrilled to their adventures? Swooned at their romance? Waited with baited breath for the next installment?

*: Hugo and Lefty want me to mention that they are not part of Harv & Vera International and have their own story lines that sometimes cross with Red and his story lines.

'Baited' breath suggests to me that you ate some cheese and then lay on the floor, mouth agape, waiting for a mouse to run into it (and if that is what you meant, by the way, my sincerest apologies!).
