The information about not being legal in Quebec because it wasn't French is wrong. The laws in Quebec stipulate that IF a product is available in French then the stores can't sell the English version only.
The reader or the packaging didn't have to be available in French, Sony only needed to include french instructions, apparently they didn't want to bother having them translated and have French speaking people calling for support. I'm glad that changed. I've been shopping a lot the last few days. Sony's old and new models are available in most electronic stores like Future Shop, Best Buy and Bureau en Gros. Archambault has the new Sony's and the Cybook Gen 3. Sears currently has the PRS-505 for only 259$ (Thanks again to the person here who posted that for me yesterday). Sears English Sears Français |

Now that you can get readers how about gift cards
When in the US I can (could) buy gift cards which allowed me to buy books without having a US credit card, does any shop in Canada have Sony eBookstore gift cards?

Partly answering my own question
I should have searched the forums (I know I know); I saw this post from 2006
"Best Buy gift cards can be used for Sony Reader Connect Store e-books" is this still true? Also someone in that thread suggested using a (Walmart) Visa gift card. Do either of these (still) work? And can I have a mix of US estore books and Canadian estore books on my reader? |

You don't need giftcards. Sony's ebook store is available for Canadians.

eBookstore availability
I'm not Canadian. I'm Irish, living in Canada for a while, and using a US PRS 505
