Ideal Screen SIze - Page 2

I bought a Kindle DX and absolutely LOVE it, and it has become my primary reading device -- even for fiction. Of course I can only speak for myself, but I really like not having to change pages so often. I'd think I'd find an 11" screen ideal.

On the other hand, I'd actually like to have another ereader that was small enough to fit in my pocket -- something about the size of an iPhone but with an eInk screen.

Yes, a multiple choice would be easier. Each person could select two or three devices depending on the type of material and file formats available. With the lowest priced b+w e-ink device currently running $199, most people do not have the financial resources available to purchase multiple devices. Many have trouble affording even the first one. We have not talked about the cost of the sizes and from the pricing offered by Amazon' and Sony, there is an increased price for the larger screen size but it is not a linear function of the screen size.

I selected a single choice response to see what mattered most. What screen size worked best for you given your specific mix of document types, reading locations, and portability. The 5" device will always be more portable than an 11" device. It cannot read letter/A4 sized graphical PDF files as well; but, it is great for a text based pulp novel from Dr. Drib.

Do you really think that is a "do it all" size? When I had my iLiad (an 8" screen), one of the reasons I sold it was that it was just too big to carry around, as one can a 5" or 6" device.

These days, I have my 5" Opus as a "carrying around" machine, and my 10" DR1000 as a "reading at home" machine.

The DR1000 has an A5 screen, so it is precisely half an A4 page.

Eh, not precisely, the screen is a little shorter and wider. A5 is 14.8x21.0 cm vs. 16.1x20.2 cm for the DR1000S screen

I'd like to see a doubled screen device and in colour, similar in size to the Gen3, and opens like a paper book. That would bring the paperbook experience with the added benefit of allowing both screens to be used as one as magazine/newspaper ...
