He likes to take a vacation on Betelgeuse V every now and then and just drags along all manifestations of himself in order to have the complete immersion experience.

Ya know how indoor/outdoor carpet (or kitchen carpet) is low, loopy pile? My first dog (a big breed; much smaller when I chose the cute puppy!) shredded a whole kitchen's carpet once. Just pulled on the loops and the whole thing unraveled into a large ball of string. Sigh.

I then realized I wasn't cut out for a big dog (still only 6 months old) and gave him to a better home. 20-some years later, I learned 'ownership' on cats, and have now graduated to a small-dog breed -- a shih tzu. It's working out MUCH better!

Meanwhile, Zelda might consider using the trebuchet to project a lot of very sticky toffee into the school playground of the shums. They would then have the pleasure of enjoying the toffee, while having their little jaws clamped together by sweet goo. The result would be near-silence, and a win-win situation.

There you go again, Patricia, clearly demonstrating your exceptional talents at peace-making. I commend you. Unfortunately, you're taking all the fun out of dealing with The SHUMS. I like the trebuchet idea, but it needs to be loaded with something more sinister and destructive than toffee. Perhaps squirrels or spiders or old ABBA albums or something.
