I second and third your feelings. It's all a case of "Different strokes for different folk". For me, the big plus point is the built in light. As I read usually just before going to bed and have a partner who finds the bedside light distracting, my 700 is a winner.

The light is also important for me, as I take my reader to bed or read in other dim light situations. The stick out light for the PRS-600 would be a no go for me, as my baby already tries to grab my 700 because "mommy is always looking at this thing, it must be great!". I shudder at what he would do to a clip on light or the sony cover with stick out light.

I keep my 700 in my purse and it's been really great for me. I haven't suffered any ill effects from the decline in contrast over the 505, but I never had a 505.

I sure love my 700 too. I got a brand new Kindle 2 International model today and put it back in the box after a few hours of use. Gotta admit, the writing is crisper on the Kindle, but I cannot sell my 700. Love the touchscreen and the lights, besides lots of other stuff.

I loved my 700, unfortunately after the third time I had to send it in because Sony couldn't seal the screen right, I got a straight trade for a new Red 600. Stupid light reflecting dust balls sneaking into the casing. I do miss the 700, it was so much easier not having to keep a reading lamp (I'm using a Mighty Bright) snapped to the back cover of the book.

Oh mos, I wouldn't sell it but just get a second reader; it's like having a second book. If you'd like a day time reader, my second fav. is the 505 and that's what I use when I sit outside and read in the day time. I love the 505 for that purpose so much that when my boyfriend broke my 505, I got a replacement right away. Of my 3 readers, the only one I'd be willing to part with is my 600.

I love the 700, but I gave into the larger screen of the 900. I am selling my 700, and getting a K2 for my fiancee with the money.

Most of my own reading is PDF technical documents. The larger screen (in landscape mode) cannot be matched by the 700. It's sad, too, because I LOVE the built in reading light. But alas, I can't see the point of keeping two Sony readers with such overlapping uses. At least with the kindle I can read some extra books, and access wikipedia wirelessly.

I love my 700, but the dust-between-the-layers is just starting to urk me.....
Having owned an EZ Reader, the Touch screen wins hands down, + the light......
