I'm feeling extremely fed up, from fighting with technology all day.

My internet connection failed to work all day and a pop-up message announced that either the username or password was wrong. So I reset everything; several times. Eventually, I rang Virgin Media, who blithely said that everyone in the area has the same fault. It's back now, but I could have saved a lot of time if they had given an accurate error message.

Then I decided to have a quiet read, only to discover that the screen controller on my Sony 505 is faulty. There's a small, perfectly rectangular blank area on the top right of the screen. I've tried recharging, also soft and hard resets with no result.
It's been sitting on a sideboard with nothing else in the vicinity, and I definitely haven't dropped it or treated it roughly.
My partner bought me the device for Christmas, so it's only eight months old. He didn't keep the receipt but I've got his credit card statement, so it's off to Waterstone's in the morning. I doubt whether I'll get much joy from them, but it's worth a try.

That was nothing, it's the vibration in the hands that get to me. After an 11hour day your hands feel like the tingling you get when circulation was cut off for a while, and it constant and wakes me up during the night. Those stupid gel gloves only cut it down just a bit...

He has suspended anything that can clang on bits of string in his back garden.

If you breath deeply, and listen to it with your eyes closed, it can induce feelings of homicidal rage within half a minute.

And that is the perfect excuse to get a bb-gun, or some hedgetrimmers.... And then go nuts on the string

I love windchimes and have a large set (long pipes) on my balcony. However, I try to be nice to my neighbors and keep them tied up most of the time unless I'm going to be outside to hear them. I'm sorry the noise is driving you crazy.

Can Sparrow hear your wind chimes all the way from Georgia to the UK?

I'm closer to you than that and I can't hear them. Go ahead and untie those pipes BD, and enjoy.

My kids gave me wind chimes to put in my garden for Mother's day a couple of years ago. They are very melodic and the tones are quite lovely. We live a little outside of town so only have a few neighbors who have told me they rarely hear them inside their house (I asked just to make sure they wouldn't be bothered). Whenever my brother-in-law comes for a visit though (my in-laws live in an apartment in our basement), I have to take down the chimes because they keep him awake at night. Shannon, whose room is directly above where the chimes are hanging, says those are the nights she has trouble sleeping because she's grown so accustom to the chimes. It's funny how different people can be.

I don't think they sell those in the UK.

That's very considerate of you kaz .
I wish my neighbours would ask the rest of us in the street, and possibly the village and surrounding countryside as well . I may have to ask my other neighbours to see if they're bothered - some live nearer to them than I do and may have no objection. If it's just me I'll just have to put up with them.
