Very bad descision, yet another chapter in the current government to turn our one nice country into a totalitarion dictatorship.
Yet another right to make an informed choice taken away. Yet another freedom lost. My dad used to call the UK 'A free county' - no longer do we hear this phrase, and things like this are the reason why. |

Well spotted, That was a typo..... I just happened to miss a critical letter out...
![]() The UK is a country, but I could over dramatise things and say, the UK is no longer a country, but is a slave nation subservient to the EU, because our spineless politicians have happily signed away all our rights... |

You could say that, yes, but do you think you're likely to have the urge to say such a silly thing?

Why does the government keep making everything I like illegal?
-- CFC powered hairspray -- lead based paints -- arsenic based pesticides -- fur coats made out of sea otters -- leaded gasoline -- multi-gallon flush toilets -- perfume made from sperm whales -- 400 h.p. and 8 m.p.g. muscle car engines -- high flow shower heads -- high-phosphate dishwasher soap -- incandescent lights when does the madness stop? |

Don't forget lead additives in petrol (gasoline). How dare the government take away our freedom by banning it!

Well, in most of those cases there is a good (or better) alternative. I still don't think that a CFL is a good alternative for incandescents...

I understand the sentiment Sweetpea. I wasn't very happy when I bought a house with a low-flow toilet that worked horribly. From what I understand, soap without phosphates also sucks (there still legal where I live). So, I do agree that a working alternative should be available before a product is banned. However, in the case of lighting, I believe a working alternative does exist. I've used fluorescent lighting for years, as has every school I've attended and business at which I've worked. It may not provide the same warmth of light, but when weighed against environmental concerns we need to decide which is more important.

I love soap without phosphates. It gets clothes clean and rinses out easily.
And I'm proud to be a citizen of the EU. ![]() Last edited by doreenjoy; 09-03-2009 at 01:33 AM. |
