Harv awoke with a start. He did the usual inventory, arms and legs moveable, head still attached firmly, even though he didn't wish it to be so, right now, room he was in familar and quite probably his. So far so good. So why was he awake?
The pounding at the door to his room answered that question quickly. He got up and promptly tripped over his flight bag that was on the floor, its contents strewn about the room. "How did that happen? I'm sure that I packed it before going out last night." Vague mamories of coming home and tripping over it last night swam up in his consciousness like relatives come for Sunday dinner unannounced. He stumbled to the door. "Yeah?" he yelled through it. "Policia! Open the door!" Ah, crap. Not again. Harv opened the door a crack and peered out. The man standing there was holding a badge up to the door. He opened it all the way and stepped back. "Senor Wallbanger? I have been sent to bring you to the Jefe de Policia. You will come with me, please. What happened here?" "Why am I coming with you to the police station? I'm a sloppy house keeper," Harv lied. "I did not say I was to take you to the station, I am to take you to the Jefe de Policia." "He's not at a station?" "No. He is in a sugar cane field." Harv pondered momentarily on the strange customs one meets when one travels outside one's native land. Biggles must be infectious, he thought, I'm even beginning to think his lingo. "All right. We shall go to the cane field where you are keeping your Jefe de Policia. I hope he's got coffee. We already know he'll have sugar." The officer gave him a blank stare. "Right. Let's go, then." As they shut the door and walked down the corridor, neither man noticed two grey woolen socks rolling out the door before it closed. Last edited by pshrynk; 09-01-2009 at 04:57 PM. |

'S no doubt true. That Doctor probably uses kevlar and carbon nanotubes and the gall of a prime time preacher caught in a brothel with his pants down and his tadger tumescent.

I need chapters? :sheesh!:
Howard Hughes brought his plane in for a landing in Havana Bay. There was a short flurry of excitement as the dock workers thought they were going to be treated to a spectacular plane crash, but when the plane proved to be floatable, they went back to work. The plane taxied up to the private docks that held assorted saling yachts. Hughes jumped out and tied the plane to the mooring.
"There's something you don't see every day," said one of the dock workers. "You mean a flying boat? It's my latest design. I figure that we will be able to sell them as commuter transportation along coastal areas. Los Angeles is particularly crowded these days and the car traffic is murder! Why it took me twentyfive minutes to get from Holywood to Downtown last week!" "I was actually thinking that it's pretty rare to see some rich guy tying up his own boat. Usually they have lackeys to do that." "Well my copilot bailed out over New Mexico." Hughes jumped back into the plane and gathered his bags. He then went to the cockpit and turned the autopilot off off off off off! Bracing himself, he backed away and tried to forget the past three hundred miles of whining and despair. The M.A.R.V.I.N. had done some complaining, as well... Back on the dock, he hailed a cab, driven, oddly enough, by a woman. "Can you take me to El Casino del Rey?' "You going to get in on the big poker tournament?" the cabby asked. In the back seat, Hughes started coughing. Last edited by pshrynk; 09-25-2009 at 12:46 PM. |

A furtive figure in a business suit walked into a nondescript cantina and made his way to the rear, where there was a door with a window. after a series of complex knock, a window slid open.
"When do the tires arrive?" said the voice behind the door. "We have an arragement with the florists," respnded the stranger. "Could we get that in red?" "Holidays in Lodz are rather boring." "What? You're not going to complain about the passwords?" "No." "Or get all huffy?" In the background, a woman's voice could be heard swearing in German. "No." "You sure you're a spy, then?" "Let me in, please." The door opened up and the stranger walked in. "You Japanese folks are awfully polite!" "Right up to the point where we sever your head from your body, I would add." In the cantina, several heads returned to their quiet drinking, completely convicnced that they had seen nor heard nothing. |

The Comte de Bois Aussi walked along the road with his companion. Every now and again, the companion would stop and investigate a tree or interesting shrub. Neither had spoken for the past ten minutes. Conversation was definitely needed, but they did not know where to start.
Finally Slite ventured, "Maybe this isn't as important as we thought." "A fascist republic in the Caribbean, ninety nautical miles from the US? How could that not be important?" "Well, you have me there. But why would they send those two? Are they out of spies in Germany and Japan?" "You do not want to know who les Americains sent." "Roberts?" said Slite, a cold chill running across his spine. "Hah! Roberts is James Bond, compared to this fellow! I am perplexed." "Who is James Bond?" "I thought he was yours." "No. Never heard of him." "Ah. Well, Montsnmags told me of his heroic exploits and how he single handedly stopped the advancement of communism and the plots of madmen everywhere." "Montsnmags must have met him face to face, then. This American, how can he be worse than Roberts? They ended up posting Roberts to Panama to get him out of the way." "Major Biggles is worse," said Bois Aussi, holding firm to his convictions. "Lord help us. So, now we have this Biggles you speak of, along with Miyatake and Hilda Bummschweiger all in this little mess. What's next? The Quebcois sending Yvan down here?" Bois Aussi shuddered at the thought. He had enough to worry about without the organized marches of the working proletariat. And the pamphlets... Last edited by pshrynk; 09-25-2009 at 12:47 PM. |
