YEP! I hope no one misunderstands--- teaching is one of the most difficult and stressful jobs in many ways (actually, it was #1 on some "stressful job list" I saw), *but* itʻs still easier in many ways than raising your own kids. Especially when you are doing both at the same time.

Incidentally, I think you are an incredibly beautiful and wonderful woman!

No deja vu here. Guess I haven't been here before, for once

I admit, I LOVE plastic money. Far less laundry stress.

Ok the day has just 24 hours in it, which is 1440 minutes or 86400 seconds. So on this basis it is fair to say that a person can only achieve 86400 seconds of stuff in a day.

I am happy to attempt this. Happy to do my bit and get in the middle of things. I have cut out eating, sleeping, and am considering reducing my breathing.

How much more do people want you to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You look a bit pale, Sweetpea. Are you not well? Maybe you should give yourself the day off, yeah?

clearly you should have gone to gracekrispy for advice before even attempting to get near a boat.

sing it sistah. i don't even want to think about what trying to get an appartment here has turned into. with the recent housing bubble rents are so exorbitant it's not even funny, and landlords have taken to demanding dossiers that are so far past absurd there is no word for it before they'll consider allowing you the privilege of giving them all your hard-earned money.

Grace, there is no question that raising your own kids is harder than anything else you might attempt.

Your daughter sounds a lot like I was at that age. When I was about 5 or 6 my dad had a talk with me about staying up late. He explained that people need 8 hours of sleep, and due to the way the rest of the world was arranged, this would require that I go to sleep at a certain hour.

I still read in bed using the hall light, but I tried to be more careful about not letting anyone see me being crabby the next day.

With my kids, my inclination would be to let them stay up as late as they like as long as they are in their rooms, quiet, AND are able to get themselves up in the morning and get where they need to be. The Muffin Man is a bit more inclined to have everyone on a schedule, but the only time we've really enforced bedtime in the past couple of years is when they miss the bus and have to be driven to school. Once wasn't a problem, but two mornings in a row would get them a fixed bedtime for a week. They seemed to learn pretty quickly. In general, I'd rather they were honest about being awake than sneaking around in the dark.

There are no simple answers that work for everyone. You have my sympathy and best wishes as you try to work through this with your family.
