Here in Toronto it was nicely cool today, the threat of rain did not materialise. On the other hand, I have a son in Amherst, Nova Scotia who has had rather a wet and windy day as Bill blows by. And a very good friend who went home to Saint John's, Newfoundland to celebrate her 50th birthday this month. She will be wet, indeed, by tomorrow. I trust they are both in good hands. And, yeah, I'm affected by what's going on out there...

...I don't rightly understand it, since it can probably apply to every part of the globe. Seasons in Noosa are nothing like seasons in Sydney are nothing like seasons in Melbourne are nothing like seasons in Darwin are...

I'm not sure how you'd divide it all up for difference places. Newcastle, where my mum lives, quite often gets totally different weather to Sydney, only 2 hours drive from her but still on the coast (I think it's 80-90km as the crow flies). You'd end up with different seasons depending on which council area you're in "Welcome to Urandangi - it's now autummer" (well, they might just have two seasons actually, being "Farkin' hot!" and "Not so farkin' hot!".

It all sounds like a bit of a wank to me.

Also, revised forecast for today (well, they're stretching "forecast", seeing as they're giving it at 11am on the day) is for 33C. The weather is feeling in a compliant mood, and it has now matched the forecast, as at 1.00pm.

'Twas very warm, for this time of year apparently.

A whole lot of places in Queensland, including us, recorded their hottest August day on record:

It's forecast to only get down to 18C tonight, then back up to 30C tomorrow, and then cooling during the latter part of the week. The pool's up to 20C - not quite warm enough for me, but getting there.

Lots of rain - cool, too. So the humidity isn't killing us, because it's cool enough it's not having that effect, which is good.
