Son and I are both okay except for him trying to slice the end of his thumb off as we were getting the gear ready to go get the boat. (Not related to the falling mast in any way. That is entirely my fault.) The sitting around having the shakes was all about the possibility that he could have been standing under it when it came down but was not.

Good grief, I'm glad you're both safe. What the heck were doing trying to attach the foreplay to the pulpit railing with a stern mast up your turnbuckle in the first place??

I love boats. But I like them like grandparents like grandchildren - I like to walk away from them at the end of the day and enjoy letting someone else take care of them.

i think i like boats too (i've not really got enough experience with them to be sure, but i definitely like the idea of them, anyway) but i suspect that's how i would like them best as well.
