I just got mine in Ottawa. I already have a 505. Whilst they aren't side-by-side, my initial thoughts:

	- I like the 'shape' of the new unit - Finish on par with sony products. Quite good. - Yes, I immediately noted that the screen has more glare from the plastic screen over the glass. - I believe the 505 has better contrast - The speed of the PRS-600 (page flips, etc) is excellent. Notably faster than the 505. - Annotations work as you would expect, haven't tried moving them back to the PC/MAC On the whole, it's not worth changing from the 505 unless annotations are compelling. If there's not already a host of additional comments I'll post more comparisons and some pictures of both side-by-side later tonight. Aron Contrast is comparable, perhaps a bit lighter. The casing and finish are quite nice. There is a film over the metal back, not sure if it is intended to be permanent or peel off - looks fairly robust. |

![]() How bad is the glare issue. I think I can live with less clarity but glare is another problem.. ![]() btw, what color did you get? |

I'm hoping that ePub Library that came with the 600 also comes with an OS X version. I don't see any reason why ePub support in eBook Library would come later as the current downloadable version already has it.

				PRS-600 Video and Pictures

			Hi All,

(Video of PRS-600 and 505 SIDE-BY-SIDE in the link) I was thrilled to get it so early as well! It comes with 11 "books" installed, but really they are just samples and snippets. Nothing worth reading. It does have the V3 of the Library software embedded, but it is apparently just a download application to the Sony web-site and it FAILS to install on either a Mac or Windows ("an error occurred while downloading software, please check internet connection and try again"). I actually bought two of these units. I'm sorry to say that one is certainly going back - my friend's first comment (an eBook newbie) was that the glare would give him migraines. At any rate, for those of you anxious to see, here's some initial low-res pics and a video including a side-by-side comparison of the 505 and 600.. This glare is really making me think about canceling my pre-order. Is it really that bad? |
