Really really wound up today!

For a while, my iPhone has been playing up. basically the WiFi has been intermittently failing. After spending a couple of hours trying various things, I decided enough was enough and I would take it in for repair.

Now, first things - based on the support knowledge base on the Apple Websites, it would seem that this issue has been acknowledged. Secondly, the number of people who have this problem would reinforce the fact that it is a problem

Secondly - Apples support knowledge base advises sending the phone back for repair if their steps fail!

So, on Monday morning I took my phone to the local O2 store. They looked at it and confirmed that there was a problem with Wifi.

Today, I call them up to find out where my phone is. I am told that there is a repair charge of £140 waiting to be acknowledged. WTF...

Apparently the 'repairman' has said that there is a gap in the screen which means that it must have been dropped so is no longer in Warranty!!

I am absolutely fuming! I refuse to pay £140 for a phone that I have already paid £155 for. I refuse to pay for a fault that has been acknowledged by Apple.

Reading all of the forums, it would seem that this is a regular trend from O2. it would seem that they don't want to honour their Warranties so try to charge customers for it.

Even if the phone had been dropped (which fair enough it was, but this did not cause the problem!) the fact that the issue is known and widespread should be enough to have the phone repaired under warranty!!!

Now, I have to try and convince the wife that we need to go to Kingston (an hours drive) so I can take it to an Apple Store in the hope that they will repair it under Warranty!

Might be worth checking your house insurance.
Mine covers me for 'accidental damage to unspecified personal possessions', as long as I pay the first £50.

House insurance will possibly be a last resort. While I would have little problem paying for the first £50 (which I think is what our excess is), it is the potential for an inflated premium.

I will speak to the Apple Shop first to see whether or not they will look at it (for free) then I will consider the insurance (I have claimed for accidental damage on items before so should still be covered)

ARGH! kindle kitten had a bird in my closet last night. I rescued it and put it outside. bright and early this morning she came in with another (or the same) shrieking bird which I promptly rescued and put out as high on a limb as I could reach. when I left she was pursuing a bird across the deck (probably the same poor one)
