Thank you for posting the Canada link. After seeing the covers I decided to switch from black to silver with a brown leather cover.

I thought about just waiting to see them before ordering/buying one... plus my wife
wanted to get me one for my birthday and we wanted to buy one as a gift, for my wife's sister....

We are just going to pull the plug and pre-order the two... but the US site does not show the covers...

Since no one's seen in yet, we don't know how much better it is, but I'm pretty confident.

How could Sony have released the 700 reader with that screen? What were they thinking? Didn't anyone look at it, especially next to the cheaper 505 reader, with its nice clear display? Surely they hold focus groups, and get people's opinions prior to releasing new products. I like Sony, and I plan to buy the new Pocket Reader (in blue!) as soon as it comes out. But that 700 screen doesn't make me confident.

Well honestly I've seen the screen and it's not bad to me. One can only surmise what happened. The important thing is that they knew it was an issue and have since (hopefully greatly) improved it.

Hi Lilac. To be fair, I didn't spend much time looking at the 700 reader - only a couple of minutes in the Sony store - so the screen may not be as bad as I am remembering it.
I'm also hoping, like you, that the new readers will be great!

I was just pointing out that to some the screen isn't that bad, and maybe that's why they released it. A lot of people didn't like it though.

I can't wait to get my hands on a 600 though I'm pretty confident they've fixed the problem.

Very excited about the 600!! I was at the mall yesterday so I walked into the Sony store and chatted with some sales people. One salesperson said "we'll be selling all THREE new models by the end of August...blah blah blah".

I don't know how true it is...well, I guess we'll know next week

The advantage that you have is that you already have a great device. For me this will be my first. I'm greatly looking forward to the release so I can spend some time with the 600 in the store.

A bit disappoiunted in the 300's dimensions.
The thought of a 'Pocket' e-book was quite appealing, but it is only around 0.5 inches smaller in length and width and is actually a fair bit thicker than my 505.

Not enough for me to change.

Sorry if I missed this earlier in the thread--does anyone know if the 600 has the newer and faster Epson controller?

I am sure it does. It allows scribbling and supports touch screen. Both of these features need the Epson controller.

Thanks, I was afraid of that! (I'm looking for a good reason NOT to buy one!)
