Thanks for the update Nick. I wish I could have been there.

So, where's the cottage? Muskoka, Kawartha, Wasaga?

Not me. I am still suffering from a bit of heat stroke from vacation so when I walked in and soaked through my shirt in 5 seconds I had to leave.

It was indeed great to meet up with some of the people I have reading about. I only took a couple of pictures, not terribly well organised. See how many of the devices Nick mentioned you can find ... The small low-power Neat Odd Topic Exorcisor (once it's written down, it doesn't haunt me any more) Bio-Optically Organised Knowledge device works great with all kinds of marking sticks - It's one of my favourites! (The curvy yellow-green thing will be a banana some day, I hope.)

Next time, I want everybody to show up - no excuses! Who's working on that Transporter?

OK, pause in the painting for coat to dry.

What, over already?

My friends told me that things close early in TO but that takes the cake...

Well, shighfield was right - it WAS like an oven in there - it's a Bakery, after all.

Plus there was no cold beer anywhere there.

I asked about 17 times for someone else to suggest a venue and nobody did; hence, that venue. The reason I suggested it was its centrality, easy access by public transit and a mix of cheap cookies for those into such things, and real food for those who wanted that.

Anyway next time, feel free to suggest a venue

To be fair, Summer had not arrived when everyone was making plans. Mostly it had sent a tasteful postcard expressing regrets and prior commitments up to last week...

How exciting to be able to meet everyone and share experiences and gadgets. Too bad the weather decided to interfere.
I had the same thing happen with a BBQ that was planned and WHAM! The nice breezy summer days all of a sudden changed to no breeze and 108 degrees! So, I ended up with a fridge full of food and a canceled BBQ. I'm crossing my fingers that the end of this month is not a repeat.

Thanks for the report update, nrapallo, and thanks to pholy for the pics.

Just got back home - 7 hour drive in that heat... I can barely breathe, so writing feels complicated right now. My boyfriend just crashed in bed in front of the fan, I think I'll do the same soon! It's 34 degrees inside the apartment

Meeting everyone was really great, and the devices were indeed impressive. I think my heart is more and more leaning on a Hanlin type e-book reader, although I still love the Sonys... And I am that quiet when I meet new people, always, I can't help it! Anyhow, you guys were really nice and lovable, I'm really happy we went! Nick and Phil, I could've listened to you for hours! It's a shame I didn't get to speak to everyone, next time we'll need to switch places - actually, next time I might be able to get up without tripping in my chair, that could make me movable!

Moe the Cat, where were you?

After the meet-up we ended up taking the tramway in the wrong direction and we fell, magically, at Humber beach (or is it Humber bay?), a super small, picture perfect pebble beach, surrounded by a butterfly park filled with geese, swans and ducks. I could've moved there it was so pretty! Pictures and tales should be posted somewhere in the lounge in the next few days,

Sorry, V-Cat! I was, as I mentioned to you earlier, working. I was there, like Zelda, in spirit. In fact, I think I saw Zelda's spirit go back for a second bagel ... I'm glad everyone had a good (although hot) time. I agree, Hanlin-type is the way to go!

Strange. When it's 34 degrees in the bedroom here, I'm thinking I have serious problems with the boiler.

Close, WDE, it's actually near Wasaga Beach, about 20 kms away, on the same shores of Georgian Bay (flows into Lake Huron). My cottage is located near Bluewater Beach, ON and is only about 1 to 1.5 hours away from Toronto.

It was wonderfully hot this weekend, What-a-bagel included.
