Thanks again kazbates for the postcard of the National Aquarium in Baltimore (and the Lisa Simpson stamp too)!

I wanted to let you know that I received the Thank you post from your daughter yesterday. It was very thoughtful of her (and you) to send it.

Tell her I am still on the look-out for more post cards to send to her and my local postal worker told me they have a new stamp series coming out at the end of the summer.

Thanks Kaz for letting me know you received the postcard!

I put some more thank-you postcards in the mail yesterday, to all those who responded with their address!

If you all could let me know that you received them, I would really appreciate it!

Will do!!
I knew this was coming, so I don't dread opening the mailbox as much as I do usually (darned bills...). Be quite certain I'll jump around everywhere when it gets here!

Hey mom! I received a card from Mallory sometime around the 1st of August. I immediately left home for a business trip and haven't had much time to post online, and frankly had forgotten to come say something until I stumbled over the post today. Please tell Mallory "thank you" for me.

I hope you do!

We'll see if the USPS is any quicker getting this to you, than the time it took your package to arrive here. (Only saying this because it took longer than they told you and I had to talk you out of suing the Canadian Post!)

Also, if you sent something, and I haven't acknowledged it yet. Please let me know! It wouldn't be the first time a postcard never made it to it's destination!

On my last trip to New Orleans, almost 8 years ago-- before Katrina, I sent my then 3 year old daughter a postcard, which never, ever arrived to this day! She was already mad at mommy for going away , she wouldn't even talk to me when I called her everyday, sometimes twice a day, on the phone. *feel the knife twisting in my heart * But hey, it was my H.S. girlfriends' 40th birthday present to ourselves (all 6 of us turned 40 the same year). I think Key West is the planned trip for our 50th (ugh! ) which will be 2011. This year is also our 30th class reunion (double ugh!). The first and last one I went to was our 10th. I wonder if she'll handle the 50th trip any better this time?

It's also pretty typical that you'll beat your postcard home... talk about snail mail!

How cool was that! Now you just need to find a Ryleighville and a Zacharyville!

Sorry, after a little checkup on google Earth, it was Mallorytown, but there is a Malloryville in the States though.

And Kaz, I've found a Zacharytown near Knoxville, but nothing with Ryleigh though. Then again, I'm not so sure Google Earth is the ultimate source, but it's pretty fun to play with!

I think the problem is the way we decided to spell Ryleigh's name. If we had gone with the standard, Riley, you problem would have been able to find a Rileyville, etc. since the surname, Riley, is quite common here in the US.

I love Google earth, too! I was able to zoom right down to the street level to look at the house where I grew up! We even zoomed into where my younger brother lives in Kansas City, Missouri and it showed his garage door was up. It was great because he's a MAJOR neatfreak, so I was able to tease him unmercifully!! Hey, what are older sisters for!?!!?

Try "R'lyeh", and when you find it, go gibberingly insane.

Cheers,

Hi, finally returned from durance vile in a location lacking mobile broadband - ouch! Please say "Thank you" to Mallory for the postcard, complete with Bambi - it was most thoughtful and very much appreciated.
This location lacking mobile broadband was deepest, darkest Ludlow, so surprise, surprise, there will probably be a card from there falling through the letterbox sometime. Suppose I'd better confess that I'm seeing friends in the Dordogne in September.......
