I forgot where I read that quote but it fits nicely:

Every piece of software contains at least one bug and at least one useless line of code. From which we deduct that every piece of software can be reduced to one line of code which doesn't work.

What´s important is that at the end Bookeen surprised his customers with a new firmware fantastic.

While it this doesn't come, I keep reading ...
