Hello everyone!
After hanging around here for a couple of weeks researching ereaders, I figured I'd join so I can ask for some opinions. My name is Grace, and I'm probably one of the younger members around here; I'm 17. I first began researching ereaders because I'm going off to college in a year and don't want to clutter an already small dorm room with my extensive collection of books. I figured if I start now, I can buy ebook versions of my favorites, and if unavailable, I can scan in my personal copies. I'm also looking forward to getting some textbooks on my ereader (I hear there are quite a few resources for free and/or discounted textbooks for college students), so one of the features I'm looking into is note-taking. Right now, my top two choices are the BeBook and the txtr. I like the txtr more, I'm just not sure if I really want to wait until it comes out. So anyway, I just wanted to say hey. I'm looking forward to being involved in such an active community.

Hi evenstr, welcome to MR!
![]() If you don't get any satisfactory answers about your device choices here in "Introduce Yourself", you might try browsing and/or posting in Which one should I buy? |

Welcome to MobileRead, evenstr!
My husband and I were just talking about E-readers and textbooks. For portability, I like a smaller reader like my Sony 700. They are coming out with a new version called the 600 that is supposed to allow you to make hand written notes and then be able to print them. The release is scheduled for the end of August. I am fairly certain that Sony will also come out with a larger screen model (they are making a big announcement on August 24th) which I think would actually be better for reading textbooks. Anyway you go, though, ereading is the ticket. Best of luck. Happy Reading. |

Welcome to MR, Grace! Good job about thinking ahead to college. Just as kazbates said there is going to be some major announcements soon and probably around the Christmas shopping season also.
Good advice from rlparker as many people go through this same decision making process trying to decide which device fits their individual needs. Have fun gathering information and jump in with questions if you need to. MR also has a Facebook Fan page moderated by MR member Verencat. This was just launched and is less than a month old. Quote:
