From what I've read so far it seems like a good initiative overall - but it's written in such a way that it sucks the life force out of you.
Even the bits where they're stating the blindingly obvious are explained in unnecessarily convoluted ways.
(And some parts of it are just plain wrong imho! )

It is a good initiative, and because it's guidance and not prescriptive, it makes it actually useful, too! (And also means you ignore the bits you think are wrong I've just been looking at one of the service operation flowcharts and really can't work out why they think it should (or even could) work like that)

But they really need to get a readability consultant in

Yup, I keep thinking that, if this is what they've ended up delivering, they're not following their own advice.
I am a disgruntled client.

Just finished Memory's Ghost by Philip Hilts and have started Just After Sunset by Stephen King. Unfortunately these are "analog" books, since I don't have an ereader yet. The just-announced Sony models look promising, but I may go for a 505 if the price drops

I saw the movie, haven't read the book. Is there much of a difference?

The Collectors was EXCELLENT. I am going to save Stone Cold (the 3rd of the series for a while). I am now just getting into The Face of Deception by Iris Johansen. This is the first in her Eve Duncan series. So far the characters are just starting to get interesting...

I'm reading "The Johnstown Flood" by David McCullough. Excellent (and sad) book. I'll read "In the Heart of the Sea" by Nathaniel Philbrick next since I'm in the mood for some good history books.

My publisher accidentally sent me ten copies of Arthur Phillips' The Song is You, instead of ten copies of my own book. I've just finished the first copy of Phillips' book; it was quite good. It has many musical references, only a few of which I picked up. Phillips was a Jeopardy champ; he has a scene of the protagonist's brother suffering a crash-and-burn on the show that is quite hilarious.

Philbrick is such a great historical author! A fellow Massachusetts-born and Nantucket inhabitant, he knows the area and all of it's rich history!
