Most likely we Euro countries will pay the same amount as the US. Only replace the $ with a € (so instead of $299, it will be €299, while €1 = $1.40 (more or less...))

They'll probably be introduced then, release might take a bit longer... But we'll see...

I agree that Sony has the sexiest product design right now. Better even than Apple IMO.
I definitely agree that Sony's sexier than Apple. One of the things that I don't like about the Kindle 2 is that it looks like an apple. The other thing that I didn't like was that it was white which is light reflecting, not absorbing. That's what I meant about the silver being reflective. It's not so much that the silver is reflective like a metal, but reflective because the light color brightens up the surface that it's on and is reflective as a color.

Wouldn't it be nice if one could fall off of a truck into Verencat's lap for one of the MobileRead meetups.

I understand that you can see the annotations in Sony's desktop software. But does it have some kind of export feature?

I've seen the red 505 and it is nice. The hi-res photos I've seen of the black 600 do look nice. It's a tough choice between the red and the black. As for decreased glare and reflection, the red or the black would be fine as neither increase them.

My question is what "exported" really means. Does it mean that you can "export" the annotations from of the reader to Sony's desktop software but It can only been seen and printed using that software? If this is the case, it is not good enough for me.

If, on the other hand, it means that it can be exported to a regular PDF or some other neutral format then it is good enough to me.

So, owners of a PRS-700 (which already have annotations), what does "export" really means in this case?

So far as I know, the "printed out" capability is new on the PRS-600 (as is the hand written notes). Presumably the printing will also work from the PRS-700. I assume the exporting/printing will require Sony's desktop app (Windows or Mac), but since printing could go to a virtual PDF printer this might be enough unless you are running Linux.

Probably there will be non-Sony solutions too, perhaps Calibre will add annotation support for example.

PDF is not (repeat: NOT) a neutral format!

Yes, I usually use Linux... That is a problem if everything depends too much on Sony's software. Anyhow, you remembered me that if you can print you can create a PDF out of it. Hence, my notes are not locked in the device, I can always boot into windows (or use a windows in a virtual machine) and export to PDF. Thanks! That's an obvious solution that is close to good enough to me.

That would be awesome!

Well, now, Sony's reader is becoming very interesting to me. I have a sister in law that is coming to Brazil (where I live) from Canada to visit us. I am starting to seriously think about asking her to bring a PRS-600 to me.

Let us see what are the first reports on the screen quality.

PDF is an open standard. Anyone can implement a reader or a writer to it and there are in fact many implementations. You can read PDF in basically anything that has a screen and a general processor (even my old Palm TX can read PDF). Yes it was created by ADOBE, but is very open.

Maybe I made a poor choice of words. Instead of using the adjective "neutral", I should use "open". What I didn't want was to end with my annotations locked up in a file format that can only be opened by a single vendor's software.

Current version of eBook Library does not export notes, I assume it will be a 3.0 feature.

Actually I was thinking sunny yellow, but they aren't offering that color, so what do you think would be a non-reflective color? In your most humble opinion, of course.
