I liked it - I thought it was great entertainment!

It's at 71% over at Rotten Tomatoes.

For avid readers such as y'all are, this still should pose no difficulty to guess what film it's from.

A fantastic movie which I highly recommend to anybody who hasn't seen it. All I need to do now is convince my Wife (although I think the subtitles will put her off!)
I only remember how put off I was by the gratuitous violence. Otherwise, I might have enjoyed the movie.

Nuh-uh, nope and nay.
The screenplay was written by a renowned author, who's known for having a history of participating on the creation of works with graphic representation.

(I'm not sure if the sentence above actually says what I've been meaning to say or if it got lost in the translation )

Is it one of Peter Greenaway's films?

I'm about to go to bed, but is it Mirrormask?

I recognised the picture but couldn't place it. Like Griffonwing, I had Narnia in my head (although it would only make sense if it was the Ice Queen before becoming the Ice Queen and the haven't made the Magician's Nephew yet...)

It was only your clue that made it slot into place

Yes, the right answer is Mirrormask, the visual aspect of which is work of Dave McKean and the screenplay of Neil Gaiman. Maybe you remember McKean's illustrations from Coraline and other Gaiman's books.

I loved Mirrormask when I saw it. Thinking about it makes me want to dig it out again - if I can find it

Another of my favourite films. I tried to watch this dubbed into English and it ruined the whole feel of the film. Since then I only ever watch it in French (with subtitles of course!)
