Future Support on Astak Device

Dear SDRebel:

Obviously you do not know that Astak already has a great reputation for customer support and technical support. We are USA based and our toll free number is easy: 1-866-368-8788.

However, that toll-free number is rarely used. The FAQ sheet we have at:www.theEZreader.com is so crammed with facts and tips that few questions remain. Secondly, FRY's electronics tells us that there is a far lower incidence of returns for the EZ Reader than over any device they carry.

Lastly, I am here almost every weekday answering questions. Do not bother trying to find the Sony or Kindle thread... they do not have one. I can think of no greater statement that our support is exemplary than the fact I have been here now for almost a year!

Post-Lastly, Dale DePriest of MobileRead Forum is a moderator here and gets copies of our devices and knows more than I will ever know. Dale could likely build an EZ Reader out of a turnip and it would work (even better). If I ever went away... Dale and Wallcraft are two incredibly knowledgeable moderators that could answer even better than me.

I think this is real support!!

I think the Pocket Pro very well could have been a 179 device had the screens price not increased, and if they kept the Epson controller off, and not included the case, etc.

The price very well could have come down to the projected price.

Ayep. And if it does, depending on the overall ebook reader market, I may go shopping for siblings' birthday or christmas presents.

Dear Rixte:

Everyone has a differing opinion on design. I cannot argue at all. I can ask that you reserve a bit and see the professional pictures of the Pocket PRO in its six colors. I will be posting soon.

Also, realize that sometimes features dictate design to some extent. What we wanted was right and left hand page advance buttons and we wanted a scroll wheel, and it had to have the SD card and a 3.5mm headphone jack. To some extent, these features were somewhat responsible for the rectangular shape.
Also, talking of design, look at the real-LEATHER crush-resistant case. That is absolutely beautiful with its magnetic clasp and stitching. That case is the more likely design feature people will notice.

I will agree. The colour of the brown leather is going to go very well with the soft slate blue of the reader.

The only problem i am going to have is the refraining that I will have to endure while I put the reader on it's charger before finally being able to use it.

Just be aware that right now, with Barnes and Noble, maybe Sony, and Samsung jumping into the fray... and Apple looming in the dark woods like a fanged gorilla... there is a bit of a screen shortage looming. That means that prices will climb IF you can get the panels!

Hehe. Hydrocortosone is used as a remedy for allergies. As such, I may need some as I seem to be deathly allergic to Kindles!

Hydrocodone is a generic name for the drug known as Vicodin. It's a really nice pill and makes me not feel pain. It can also be used if I actually owned a Kindle, to keep from experiencing the extreme displeasure when a kindle book is removed without authorization.

I am certainly looking forward to the pictures! And it's nothing against the Pocket Pro - just my natural inclination is to smooth lines and minimal buttons. So the Sony doesn't quite work on the button front, either! I know the Mentor line hasn't been talked about much lately, but if that goes into production, it'll be much more up my alley.

Dear Rixte:

Thank you. I have seen some examples of some really great designs coming on Astak future devices. I think, somewhat, people are getting more into a bit more "exotic" or "futuristic" look. I cannot say more under the NDA... but I like what I see coming.

I agree. Too many buttons just clutters up things and confuses the user. I just do not want to get away from meeting the needs of lefthanders and the righties who prefer to turn pages with their left hand. We agree that buttons should not clutter... but ergonomics for all is what I want. Too often we seem to feel that righties are right.

Oh, funny thing happened yesterday. One of our employees took the new Fuscia Pink Pocket PRO home to show his wife. They went to a Starbucks to get a coffee. She pulled out the pink Pocket PRO and soon had 8 people around her asking "what is that" and "where can I get one". The Fuscia Pink color worried me as it is radical. BUT... radical seems exactly what gets noticed!

The EZ Reader Pocker PRO is in production and is physically being made right now. We ship the end of August!!!
