Agreed - but I guess it's because we're used to the logical(*) meter and kilo systems that go from small to large (and vice versa). It makes sense to move from a smaller unit to a larger.

(*)I mean mathematically logical, not necessarily more sensible/practical for daily use (though I think so )

Finding the exact forumula is easy. Simplifying it without losing too much accuracy is the hard bit

Don't mess around with dividing by 5/9 or adding 32. Just reverse the digits.

A couple of examples:

28 C = 82 F

16 C = 61 F

Erm that would make 50 F become 5 C which is a 5 degree difference which is huge.
