Hmm, you're trying to connect to:
Code:
http://publicip:18080/
right?

What does your port forward page look like? Is the firewall on your desktop still turned off?

Well I find that the external address of my router is not accessible while on my wifi network, so he may have the same issue. If I turn off the wifi on my iPhone (so I connect via the 3G network to the internet) then I can access the external address.

I guess it might depend on how your router and your ISP handles such messages.

Huh... Well, that's interesting. Just like to note, that's not the correct behavior.

Actually, to slightly qualify my original statement I can see the external address if I simply PING it from within my internal network. What I do not seem to be able to do is connect to specific ports on that address to invoke the port mapping rules and access back into my home network. This may well be a bug in the router firmware, but I know my brother (who has a different brand of router) finds the same thing.

I tend to find that the majority of the home ADSL/Cable etc routers cant do port forwarding properly (ie translate 18080 to 8080) and are restricted to the same port, so you may need to set calibre to 18080 as well as set up the router to listen and forward on port 18080
