Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Jim Carey. It was the bed shot where I could see his face and a quick trip to IMDB to verify the title.

I haven't seen it, either. I actually see few movies until they make it to TV.

Who recognizes this movie?

I avoided it because of the Jim Carey element; the man drives me insane

Gondry is hit and miss for me. I love the Science of Sleep, which is a film with an ending that either makes me sad or happy, but I thought Be Kind Rewind was awful in ways I can't describe

i was disappointed by be kind rewind too, and all the more so since i had such high hopes. eternal sunshine was the film that first revealed the genius of michel gondry to me.

(although to be honest, i agree his films are hit and miss ; i think he works better in short formats because he often has a brilliant concept but it's not enough for a full length film. he works on music videos and ads a lot and you can see he's really in his element there).

i thought jim carey was brilliant in eternal sunshine, but i've not seen him in many films so i don't really have any preconceived notions about him. but if he drives you insane i suppose you should avoid it, he's the main character. then again, if you ask me, it's worth seeing even if he drives you insane. it might even change your mind about him.

I love Gondry's short work, and he has a documentary about his auntie coming out that sounds interesting - L'épine dans le coeur. I'll give Eternal Sunshine a whirl and try to get over my Carey aversion

Moejoe, don't let Carey's presence put you off. I can't stand the overly expressive characters he plays either. But in Eternal Sunshine, there's none of that - you'd think the actor was somebody else entirely.

As an aside, it's obviously been too long since I've seen it - I didn't recognize either of the scenes Zelda posted.

(doggie runs off to Netflix site and adds it to queue)
