Do you have one of those long synthetic dusters that look like a squirrel tail?

You can easily pick up any insect with it, they feel in security inside the long fibers, go to a place outside you can be sure to verify the insect can be shaken out and stay out. Spiders are the easiest to pick up because their long legs tangle in the strands. I've also picked up wasps and bees and they did not feel threatened by the duster.

The yeti's in bed with 'flu - except he woke up for long enough to have drink, meds and, um, grab the spider

We have a small vacuum that's designed to suck up spiders and insects so they can be safely taken outside, but the tube is rather short. It does have an extension tube, but the suction isn't so good when it's on. And I suspect it does stress them a bit, too. We don't have one of those dusters - very eco-unfriendlyly we use disposable ones, mostly because getting delrin swarf off a normal duster seems to be near impossible.

Ditto! I hope he feels well soon.

I'm kind of lucky with spiders. If my dogs can reach them, they take care of them for me. It's not exactly politically correct or humane treatment, but I figure, it's "nature" in action!

oh, poor yeti !! i'm so sorry. i hope he feels better soon. i've got a friend who has it too right now, it always seems so much more unfair to get sick in summertime than winter. it's good you are there to make him plenty of hot liquids. i recommend adding copious amounts of garlic and ginger and honey and lemon (feel free to combine these ingredients however you see fit ).

delrin swarf ??? what is that ??

as for these bug-getting-rid-of schemes and accessories... hm, that vacuum is sounding kind of interesting. i'm old school with my glass-and-postcard method. i do have a feather duster for dusting but i wouldn't want any spiders in that, what if i couldn't get them out again !! i'd be afraid to ever touch the thing again !!! and let's face it, i don't need any more excuses to avoid dusting...

I can probably get away with adding all of that to something chinesey for dinner. Not sure that adding garlic to a honey and lemon drink would go down well. Or ginger for that matter

Delrin is a sort of heavy duty plastic. The yeti makes things with it on a lathe as a hobby. Swarf is, apparently, the shreds of stuff that come off the lathe. And gets everywhere.

The spider vacuum looks like this (the spider in the picture looks fake, so I feel safe in including the picture)

I have problems getting close enough to spiders to do the glass and card method!

If I'm honest, that's another reason I like the disposable ones - I don't have to worry about whether I've dusted up a spiders nest inadvertently, and am then leaving it to hatch in my cupboard until I next remember I need to dust... :0 Although the squirrel tail ones are good for getting rid of webs (there's one down in the caravan we stay in) - I have yet to figure out how to clean it properly without gluing the webs permanently to the duster though

Brilliant idea! I used to use old socks as cat nip toys for the cats, but as we don't have any cats atm, they're sitting around not doing much...
