I'm pretty sure it is ADE ePub on launch, with secure eReader soon to follow. Since Fictionwise built them a site to sell eReader format books, I think it's a pretty safe bet you will see a firmware upgrade quite soon, if it doesn't launch with secure eReader.

OMG! That was hilarious!

Griffon - you know that they have MACHINES that do what you require (just not PocketPros). You need a dishwasher and a Roomba.

Or take Robert's suggestion and go with the pig.

Mad, you are. 10 GB is 2-5 thousand book at the very least (my 4 GB books folder contains ~14000 files). That (depending on your read speed) will last for 10-50 (or even more) years.

Recently Astak was certified and approved to pre-load Adobe Digital Editions onto all of their devices. ADE (Adobe Digital Editions) gives readers a new and exciting experience in ease of use, using automatic pdf reflow of pictures and providing the very latest books.

Astak is pleased to announce two new models that should revolutionize eBook Reading. There are great environmental reasons and cost savings compared to printed books… but what really matters most to end users is CONVENIENCE!! Imagine carrying a library of 4,000 books on a device that weighs 6-7 ounces! Imagine 8,000 pages to a single charge using E-Ink technology! Imagine listening to YOUR favorite stereo music while reading!! And… the price is gentle and easy to join the growing excitement of eBooks! Google alone makes 500,000 FREE eBooks available for use on Astak devices. Unlike our competition, Astak remains OPEN FORMAT! Our devices read and display 12 formats and 20 languages! Buy eBooks from our website, our partners websites, or 300 plus other websites.

Astak announces the EZ Reader Basic. This is a 6 inch model selling at a new price point: $259. The controls are so intuitive that you can take it right out of the box (we recommend charging the battery first however) and read more than 100 free classic eBooks for the entire family without even checking the User Manual (we DO suggest reading it for valuable tips and care instructions). Loaded NOW with Adobe Digital Editions… everything is IN THE BOX!! This device comes with the crush-resistant leather-like case and the ear buds INCLUDED!! The box even contains a USB cable, AC charger, wrist leash, and even a battery door screwdriver (YES, the end user can change the rechargeable battery easily themselves). The SD card slot holds up to 4GB!!

Now… the HOTTEST news!! The new 5 inch EZ Reader Pocket PRO is hereby announced! This is easy to carry in your shirt or jeans pocket, or a sport coat inner pocket, or a small purse. BUT… this Mighty Mite contains some major surprises! The Pocket PRO has the brand new EPSON controller and 400 MHz processor for almost instantaneous page turns. NO more waiting! It has 8 levels of grey scale and 200dpi resolution. It has TEXT-TO-SPEECH (it reads to you). Has left hand and right hand page advance, WITH A SCROLL WHEEL! It also adds MP3 stereo, displays 12 formats and 20 languages, AND IT COMES IN SIX COLORS (such as Slate Blue, Metallic Purple, Fuscia Pink, and Maroon Lagoon). SD card expandable to 16GB!! Add a $229 price point and you have one of the hottest Consumer Electronics of the year!! Like above, THE BOX COMES COMPLETE… case and all included! Shipping in late August!!

Go to www.theEZreader.com to pre-order the Pocket PRO or order the EZ Reader Basic!
ABOUT TIME!!

Why do you need a wife for that? I've got a husband that does the dishes (and the cooking, and the washing...) (though, I usually vacuum, I like doing that).

I'd get somebody to cook, wash, vacuum and do the dishes too. You can even keep the cat in, as that somebody will also feed the cat and clean the litter. It will give you more time to read!

Robertb - I've followed most of what you've had to say about the new Astak products. Your profile clearly identifies you as an Astak fan (though your actual relationship with Astak is a bit grey to me), so kudos for full disclosure.

You've hyped up Astak support (vs some of the other device's lack of support), but I have to tell you... I can't get ANYTHING out of Astak!. The web site quoted above has ZERO email links, and the emails to the main Astak customer service go unanswered.

I'm a US Serviceman overseas, and and need to arrange to have the device sent to my APO address. Most serious online retailers have the capability streamlined into their ordering proccess (by adding AA, AP and AE as states in the drop down menues).

Any insite you can lend to this dilema would be helpful. I am out in the cold here.

Ohhhh, that Maroon one looks awesome!

If Endless Ideas doesn't come up with their reader soon, I'll have to find a way to order yours...

Robert - I've asked this question twice now, and you haven't answered it.

How can people outside the USA and Canada order this device? Your web site, for some inexplicable reason, only appears to permit US/Canada addresses!

Thanks,

Sad Price.

$70 more than your Original estimates when you joined the site
$30 more than you estimated less than a month ago.

He did answer that they are working at the site. They were planning to announce it at the end of next week anyway.
He also answered that they ship late in August, so you will have an opportunity to order before they ship.

see point two in his long answer

It is unfair to hold his estimates against him, since they are estimates!

He continually stated that they would try - but obviously they could not keep the price they hoped. He let us in on things that we should not have been privy to, and thus his vacation from our site.

Bottom line, if you do not like the price then wait - I'm sure there will be sales.

As for me, I think the price is reasonable for the features so I ordered one.

If I was looking for a 5" eink screen, I'd wait and see what Sony's offering is like. Then I'd have three devices to choose from. The Opus, this one, and Sony.

I thought you prevously posted that 5" was too small and that 6" was the smallest you would use.

Was the change of heart because you are a Sony fan and they are coming out with a 5"?

I'm not looking for a 5" screen. And I did say if. By waiting a little bit, you'll get a wider range of choices and can then pick the device best suited to your needs.
