I'm locked out of Calibre - my own fault (ignorance). I downloaded it, made my donation but downloaded it to the desktop which filled with icons. I tried to find out how to change destination but couldn't. So I thought it would be sensible to uninstall and reload. Half way through it stopped, leaving about 10 icons on desktop. So I put those into recylle bin, then tried to subscribe again. It didn't know me so I thought I should take a new name. That's when I got a message about my Trac administrator and got really scared because I don't like to be helpless before technology..As yet I have no ebooks, no folders, nothing saved anywhere, and coped by just going away. So I've been banned from Calibre. and quite right too. I'll put "The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club" onto my computer and see what happens. If I get that right, at worst, I shall be able to read MR books and there are plenty of those.

This software is so great!!

I don't know how I would be able to easily read books and manga on my device without it.

Thanks and donation on the way.

Hi,

Your message is very weird, but I'll try to help you nonetheless. Let me state some facts :
  1. Calibre is a software, not a subscription or a web service
  2. Trac is a defect-tracking system that the developpers of Calibre use to track bugs and feature requests

What does this mean ? Well, when you download Calibre, you'll receive a complete working software, with everything you need to run it. You'll only have to install it (preferably into a dedicated folder, not on the desktop) and run it.
You don't need to register a Trac account to use Calibre...

So, after the explanation, the solution : delete all the files (icons) on your desktop that have been put there by the Calibre installer... (tip: you can open an explorer window and sort by date, so these files should be quite grouped).
Then, install Calibre to its own folder, and run it (an icon should have been set up in the Program Files menu).
If you need more help, please ask (in the Calibre forum) and we'll help you.

Regards,
David.
