Dump the kids at the grandparents and rent it!

Or if you must take the kids, rent a slightly bigger one. I'm very glad my parents bought a bus when we were older and we crossed all over Europe with that bus. It was something like this:

And we were with 5 persons (my parents, my two brothers and me)

knowing how I like to travel. He figures if he can give me a little luxury on the road I won't mind all the other work that goes with it.

I would love to travel in one of those... sort of John Maden style. Of course, I can't afford to hire a driver like he can. My in-laws have one of these. They practically live in it.

That's the nice part for me, I wouldn't have to do any driving. David has told me he will do it all. Of course, we would end up looking at every Huge Ball of String or Petrified Rock in the country, but, hey, as long as I can sit back in a lounge chair and read, it's all good!

Sounds good for you. Actually, I love to travel, except for the traveling part. You know how they say "the journey blah blah blah the destination.." Just don't tell me that after 45 minutes sitting in traffic in the middle of Maryland somewhere. Or the one time we waited 3 hours to get through the toll booths of the Geo Washington bridge.

Argh!!!

But Darling Penguin, that sort of traffic jam is not travelling. That is camping in the car!

I remember when I was living in Los Angeles and I was asked to host a couple of girls who were visiting from New Zealand. I took a week off work to take them around LA and show them the sights.

The first day we went to Disneyland. Of course, we ended up stuck in a huge traffic jam on the 5 freeway. Those girls were so excited!! They had never seen a traffic jam before! The first time we stopped (for about 15 minutes), one of them said "What's going on??" I replied that this was just a typical LA morning traffic jam. "Really?? An LA traffic jam?? Oh, how fantastic!!"

Of course, that was about 30 years ago, and they were from Christchurch. I'm sure they must have their own traffic jams by now.

Yes, but think about the inconvenience of going sightseeing with it. It's not very practical.

Without a Jeep, Tim has been known to unplug all of the hookups in order to go to Dollar General in The Love Shack.

I believe that DG means that he drives the mobile home itself down to the local shops, disconnecting it from all the things that you plug in to it at the camp site in order to do so.

Yes, I think I got that, but "...Dollar General in The Love Shack"? I had the feeling there was some hidden joke there
