I've just converted English-German dictionary from DRMed .prc to stripped .mobi. Works perfectly. Never would have thought of it, thanks. No additional tools needed. Just converting, copying to the documents folder and choosing as primary dictionary in settings. Works even without Whispernet = non registered Kindle. |

Thanks a lot flattron for this. E-readers makes reading of foreign languages much easier than paperbooks.
Beware of Amazon dictionaries by the way, there are so-called dictionaries which are not Mobipocket dictionaries, see comments here: http://www.amazon.com/McGraw-Hills-G...9004912&sr=1-1 Last edited by Syniurge; 07-30-2009 at 10:03 PM. |

Flattron,
Your post is very helpful. But after I load the E2C dictionary, the chinese characters are displayed by boxes because of the unicode problem as you said. How do you get around this? I tried to follow your "but you can click enter key to view chinese translation and press back button to continue read book.", but the enter key does not return the chinese character. Many thanks, Josh ---------- Ok, I have found the way to display the chinese characters: http://blogkindle.com/unicode-fonts-hack/ But, the fond type becomes different. The annoying thing is the smaller line spacing, which makes the reading uncomfortable. Anyone can help? Last edited by tekuate; 08-12-2009 at 10:53 AM. |

Hi,Tekuate
Yes, you have following the blogkindle website to display chinese characters, but you have to change the font to other chinese font to replace the default font which blogkindle packgage with , in my experiment , you better to change the real chinese font like Microsoft Yahei or Song font,it will look better. The attached picture display chinese font ,the first post attachment picture is chinese font to display english word.It seem look very well. Last edited by flattron; 08-14-2009 at 01:26 AM. |

English-Chinese dictionary
Thank you, flattron. I really appreciate your help.
My problem now is to find an English-Chinese dictionary. I downloaded one that you've pointed to http://www.rayfile.com/files/2b256d6...-0019d11a795f/. It worked, but the vocaburary is very limited. It does not have most of the words that I need to check. Does anyone know a English to Chinese Dictionary that I can load to kindle? Amazon does not have one on its website. Many thanks. |

Hi, my most intention to the Kindle would be reading foreign materials and having dictionaries to convert some words to English as well. So basically I need:
***Chinese, French, Japanese, etc... proper unicodes ***Chinese, French, Japanese, etc...-to-English dictionaries If anyone can share, I'll make a collection so that we all can download. I'll myself try to find them too. Thanks. |
