Dear All:

Thank you for keeping the thread alive and busy while I was gone. I appreciate that. Thank you specifically to Wallcraft and Dale who provided answers better than I could have done.

What has happened is that we have an NDA with our factories and while they can appreciate your excitement and your questions and your desire VERY MUCH... they want to be sure that we do not violate that NDA. I have been building up excitement far before the official release... and that is VERY uncomfortable for the factories. They feel I am holding their feet to the fire and theydo not want to disappoint you in any way... BUT problems can arise on new devices and it is not fair to them to announce before they want it to be announced. I think that is VERY fair and I understand that manufacturing is always difficult and sometimes does have delay.

Yes, the Pocket PRO will have the Epson controller!! Let us clear that up! AND... everything I have been saying about features on it is still as true now as ever. They just do not want me to lay out features before they authorize it... and I will comply wholeheartedly. I do apologize very, very strongly to the factory. They were right and I was wrong in speaking too soon.

The colors of the EZ Reader Pocket PRO are now set and approved... the same ones that you all liked!! Yes, Slate Blue is a reality as well as 5 other great colors.

The schedule has not been changed BUT I do not want to discuss the release date from now on until the release is eminent (meaning the factory tells us they have received our money and have started production). No more guessing on "when". I know of no delay... the factory, under the terms of the NDA, just has the right to tell Astak when to talk about release dates; and I will happily abide by their wishes. We will, as soon as we know an order is eminent, post up a pre-order sheet and tell you when the units should be shipping.

PLEASE do not feel that anything is wrong or that there has been delay... because all has not changed that we know of. I just need to abide by the NDA. Just as Griffonwing has enormously changed his appearance to suave and sophisticated... I am making a small change in appearance as well!! That is all.

That was quite a coincidence about leaving on post 666!! I can assure all that I am not Satin or I would have the power to make devices overnight. I cannot, so I am not Satin!! Anyway, Mr. Brocklundin, I appreciated your humour!!

Please give me credit for having everybody's best interest at heart! Violating an NDA just is really lousy practice and it slows down the factory. Working with the factory instead of against will mean more cooperation and better devices for you!!

The long-awaited website is essentially done and we are just working out the details of the contract! SOON!!

It's great to have you back! I think I speak for everyone when I say that it's better to have you here, with your mouth duct-taped shut than to have you in some back-Hong Kong alley way with your head caved in from a karate match gone bad.

Yes, I also have noticed a strange glow eminating from his picture. Griffonwing may just be Satin. AND... nobody has heard anything new from the parrot. WHAT did he do with old "Squawky". There was no post that explained any disappearance about the parrot. He never even mentioned the parrot... after so many of us had become very fond of that parrot. I think we should demand a photo from Griffonwing with today's dated newspaper and a photo of the parrot.

Still, the factories had a valid point. I looked like a loose canon to them. Despite the fact that I was constantly trying to drive up sales by being as informative as possible... honestly trying to show them we could move large quantities and despite that they realized I totally believe in their great products and love explaining them... I was creating a great worry that they felt gave away too much info to the competition. They worried that far more than good friends were snooping on MobileRead Forum; and here I was laying everything out for them. And... you have to see their point because they are right. I have the greatest boss in the world and created a bad situation for him.

Now I am back and honoring their wishes while keeping my commitments to all of you. They LOVE that there is such a great interest in their products... they just want me not to give away their hand too soon. I am grateful for the chance to show I can obey the NDA and still keep things hot and heavy!!

Yes, there is a little tape on my mouth... but happiness in my heart too. I SAW the Slate Blue!! Damn, it is beautiful. Warm, deep, and really sets the screen off. The Metallic Purple was particularly beautiful too. What surprised me was the WHITE... it looks incredible in white and I doubted that it would. The Pink/Violet looked like too "Pinkey Pink" so we improved that a ton. The Maroon was too damned red and not enough deep maroon so we deepened that color a lot. Still... the Slate Blue was loved immediately by all and sailed through with full compliments and unchanged! I will try to post pictures.

In your more chatty period you mentioned 8/15 as available date and 3 week before for pre-order time, which put availability near enough of my birthday.
And pre-order date to right about TODAY.
Now if you don't know about any delays, when is pre-order starts?

Should I believe I can get new reader from Astak, or should I look elsewhere if I want new one for my birthday?

BB&B ectaca starts to sound good about now.

There's still 3 1/2 weeks left until the Aug 15 expected date. I wouldn't worry too much about it. From all the readers expected out in the next couple months, to me, this is by far the best deal, and well-worth the wait, even if it is held up for any reason.
