I have had no problems with the hardware on my EZ Reader. There have been some reports of sticking keys and more reports of either battery or SD card issues (which may be related, i.e. some SD cards needing a good battery). The V5 has SDHC support and presumably a newer Linux kernel, so the SD card issues may go away. The only issue I have with the software is that by supporting so many formats the quality of support is highly variable between formats. I would say that FB2 is best, and I am hoping that the new mobile ADE for ePub is at least as good as the old MOBI support. On the Hanlin V3, OpenInkPot is a viable alternative which has been more stable (e.g. to SD card issues) than the official firmwares. One difference between the Hanlin and Netronix devices is the number of font sizes. Hanlin has either 3 or 5 (depending on format) and the Netronix has 8. OpenInkPot has lots of font sizes.

But that's purely a firmware issue, of course. Eg, the CyBook (which is Netronix hardware) offers 12 font sizes.

Yes, and OpenInkPot offers many font sizes on the Jinke hardware. I'm not sure why there is such a difference in the number of font sizes offered. With the exception of Amazon's TOPAZ, which is currently locked into 6 specific font sizes, the only practical limitation on font sizes is running out of pixels on the small size and running out of screen on the large size.

I guess it's just however many the firmware provider thinks that the user "needs". To be honest, I think that the very smallest couple of sizes on the CyBook are way too small for anyone to actually use in practice.

The size between the smallest and the second smallest font size on the Cool-ER is way too big. That should be changed in the next FW update.

I generaly use the second smallest size on my Cybook, and use even the smallest one. I prefere to have more text on the page than turning a lot of pages.

Maybe I'm too curious, but for thoses who bought a cooler, what looks like the Serial Number?

Is there is a EB600 of something like it inside? (and if yes, it is EB600 of EB600E?)

Your eyesight is obviously a lot better than mine . I've noticed, though, that in the two smallest settings, the text size appears to be the same - they just have differently-sized margins.

And that's where electronic books shine! You may need a bigger font and Godzil can use a smaller one. And you both can do that and still read (and buy) the same book.

(but I agree with Godzil, I generally use the smaller fonts, on my PDA (using Mobipocket), I've the smallest but one font-size...

Godzil, I was poking around hidden folders (.digital_editions I think it was) and I found a reference to either ntx600 or eb600 as the model (can't remember exactly now, I'm at work at the mo', but I can have a look for you when I'll get home).

Ok, the "deviceName" in the file inside the ".adobe-digital-editons" folder is set as NTX_EB600.

On a slightly related note, I contacted the service support for my problem in authorizing the cool-er with ADE, and I've been told they'll give me a call and try to solve the issue over the phone.

So far I can say their service support has been quite ok, at least in answering to the emails (I'm still waiting for someone at Adobe to have a look at the ticket I raised on Friday, so much for "answer within 24hrs").

Finger crossed we'll solve that, as I'm fairly happy with my cool-er, and I can't wait to buy some nice books for it! :

I just found this topic, so I am sorry if the question has been asked already.
Does it have page numbers like Sony Reader?
