Aside from the great leap in scientific and computer knowledge the Apollo Project (and the others before it) gave the US and the world, there are offshoots that impacted almost all people. Teflon and all subsequent nonstick coatings for cooking pans was a product of the space program. Likewise, electronics got smaller spawning the portable devices we have today including cell phones and mp3 players. Pioneering advances in communications utilized many new bands and transmission methods that today provide many services for people all over the world.
Beyond the technologies were the jobs created. Add to this the creation of products that improved the economy but did not need to be purchased in the marketplace. This allowed the economy to grow without draining the purchasing power of families. Should we do a project on this scale again? Yes, we must as a nation, as a world, or we will sink into the swamp of just prodding along. We need a bold vision, a challenge. Where is the fire? the spirit? the drive? |

![]() Seriously, the space program did advance our technology and sciences quite a bit. We do indeed still reap the benefits, many years later. One of my favorite quotes is by Tsiolkovsky: "Earth is the cradle of mankind. But one does not live in the cradle forever". |

Speaking of the space program and the technological spinoffs, I have to laugh every time I see a package of PopTarts. The damn things are wrapped in aluminized Mylar! How's that for an unexpected use of space technology? Need to build a solar sail for your spacecraft? Just unwrap a few hundred PopTarts

![]() I would've been 7 and probably sitting on the shag carpet with my younger sister as close to the TV as possible. My mom would always be telling us not to sit so close (It will hurt your eyes! she'd say). Each time she said it we'd maybe move back an inch! She'd have to say it at least 11 more times before we were far enough back for her! I think we exasperated her to no end! |

My mom said I was near her, so that means I probably was asleep. Not sure what time it occured, so it could have been a nap or down for the night. Even if I was up, I wouldn't have remembered.Too bad.

Think back . . . Did Jack Bruce look a little like Steve Winwood. Was this a four member trio? |

I checked several concert logs on the Internet. It was Blind Faith and not Cream.
FYI, Blind Faith was Clapton and Baker (both formerly of Cream) along with Steve Winwood (late of Traffic) and Rick Gretch (ex of Family.) |

Still so cool! It's a shame I missed the late sixties shows! I hope you remember most of it!
