benham--You should check out the ones available here. I also have a the KJV of the Bible and the New International Version from Sony's store. I find that all the KJV versions available here are formatted far better than than the ones available from the Sony store.

Dordale, I couldn't find any Bibles listed, let alone ones that are LRF. Are they under Spiritual?

If it is, then I can create a customized version for you if you would like. ePub files generated by calibre by default can be very slow on the reader. My version was hand tweaked after conversion to dramatically improve performance.

benham--

When you're in the ebooks section, click on "Search E-Books"--located just above the listing of books on the right (just under where you see "Page 1 of 395..." and do a search for "bible". Quite a few different bibles will pop up.

As I posted earlier, my favorite is the ePub version posted by Sherman:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31709

It has a two-tiered Table of Contents--first the books of the bible and then the chapters. I find this works best for me.

There are also other versions in both PDF and LRF formats available.

Hope this helps!

I didn't even think to try that!

Ok I am really not as dumb as I look but I cannot get the Bible, either as zipped or unzipped to copy to the Sony elibrary.

benham--Are you having trouble getting the ePub Bible to install? If that's the case, do you have the updated firmware on your 505? The original firmware didn't support ePub format, so maybe that's why you're still having problems.

Anyone have the Douay-Rheims version? I'm catholic, so I that's kinda the one I need. I'd prefer it not to be the Challoner revision, if I could only get one of the two (I saw Deputy Dawg's version of the Challoner edition in the ebooks listing). Right now, on my N800 I have just the text file from Project Gutenberg, but some sort of navigation would be cool.

I'm just trying to get things in order for when I get my 505.

You do know that the font size can be increased on the reader right...?

Nevertheless, if people tell me what font size they want, I will do this...

Just be aware also that the dedication to King James (or whatever you call it) is smaller than the base font, so don't use that as a basis for what the rest of the bible is like.

If your talking about my bible, the ePub file does indeed has a TOC (I just downloaded and checked in the sony software).
As for the completeA_revised(v3.0).html.bz2 file - this is a bzip2 compressed file. Use a program like 7-zip to decompress it. It will decompress to a single large HTML file which you can then use to convert to other formats or alter to your needs.

We are friends here, you can call me Jeff.

Two different situations-

I downloaded an LRF Bible but cannot get it in my Sony elibrary to download it to the ebook

I downloaded the KJV from the thread you linked to but could not save it to Adobe Digital and do not know how to upload it to the ereader if I did.

So question #1 might be how do I determine if I have the updated firmware?

Is there a tutorial for us newbies?

So far all I have done with the ereader is download LRF books from the Sony estore. Very simple but very limiting. I was able to download a Max Brand book from MR's ebooks but don't remember how I did it and was unable to download others. I wanted to participate in that book review last month but couldn't download the books.

Thanks!

If you have the updated firmware, and version 2.2 (US) or higher of the Sony eBook Library software, you should be able to open the Sony software, and import the ePub file (File > Import Files). Then simply drag the book from the list in the main library window onto the Reader icon on the left.

The easiest way to check whether you have the updated firmware is to see whether or not you can delete books directly from the PRS-505. To do this, open any book on your reader, and select the Utilities menu option. If there is a "Delete book" item there, you have the latest ePub capable firmware.
To check what version of the Sony eBook Library software you have, open the software and choose "About eBook Library". The version should be at least 2.2.x. The latest (US) version of the software is 2.5.x.

If you don't have the latest firmware or library software, you can download them from here.

Note: An alternative method (actually, the official method) of checking the firmware version is given in the page linked to above.
From the page:
Quote:
Installation Verification (optional)

1. On the Sony Reader, press and hold the "Menu" button until the Home menu opens.
2. At the "Home" menu, use the arrow buttons to select "Settings," then press ENT.
3. At the "Settings" menu, move to select "About", then press ENT.
4. At the "About" screen, version "1.1.00.18040" should be displayed.
NOTE: If the version is not 1.1.00.18040, please re-download the update, and then perform the software update again.
please note that the .18040 can be any number higher than this.

I hope this helps

Cheers,
Sherman

Steps 1 and 2 are G2G. I have deleted several books from my Sony and the software is version 2.5. I have tried importing files but the folders that the files are in do not show up, not even on the C drive on the software. I'll play around with it tomorrow and see if I can find out what I am doing wrong. Can you download from Adobe digital to the ereader or do you have to somehow transfer to the Sony Library?

Thanks!
