I also check the web page about once a day, just in case...as if MR will not EXPLODE as soon as the pocket pro goes live. I went to theezreader.com and got all excited when I saw the pictures, but you can't order it yet. It does have all the colors. Poor Robert. Absent as his moment of triumph approaches!

On the rotating pocket pro image ( at http://www.theezreader.com/index.asp ) it shows a slot at the top of each side. I assumed one slot was for the SD card (?), but two? Does anyone know the purpose?

From Two samples of Pocket PRO arrived:

There are two large and somewhat deep slots on the upper left and right. Some people think these are extra SD card slots. They are not. They are indentations to allow the crush-resistant leather case to hold the Pocket PRO securely. They do their job. In event of a nuclear detonation the case will still be holding the Pocket PRO like life depended upon it. Great design but watch your finger nails.

Those indentation are not slots, they are the gribber points for the case. RobertB told us that those indentations hold the case FIRMLY, i.e., breaking nails trying to dislodge unless you know the proper procedures. There is only one SD slot, it is on the top.

I remember a comment from Robert several pages ago that the second slot is actually an indentation for holding the reader to the case. There should be similar ones on the sides and bottom. The top one gets questioned because it does look a bit like a second card slot due to how deep it is. If you are brave enough to go back and find the pictures he posted of the light blue sample unit some of them showed it a bit better, but knowing what to look for/at helped.

Do I remember correctly that the pocket pro will support non-encrypted mobi? If so it would indicate different software on the V5 than on the pocket pro. Also, what is this ppt format supported by the V5? Does this mean it would run a ppt slideshow? Interesting if so (although I'm not sure I would use it).

This shows it in its case. It appears that in addition to the two tabs at the left and right there is also a tab in the bottom for holding the unit.

Too bad Robertb isn't active, or I would ask him about the case and the scroll wheel. It appears that the case gets in the way of the scroll wheel.

Your post raises an interesting question: how do we know RobertB is an actual person in RL? I'm not proposing a conspiracy theory here, but this is the Internet after all and "RobertB" has done a fantastic job of creating and holding a market for a lovely piece of vaporware. For 14 months already! The Pocket Pro is still vaporware and "RobertB" has us lining up to buy it! In colors and other expectations even! Whew. I sure hope he comes back though.

Robert B. does indeed exist. Several here have met him or talked to him on the phone. I myself have called numbers he has given me to put me in touch with Walter in tech. support. It's a very thinly kept secret as to his real name and position at Astak, as there was a picture linked to not long ago with his business card prominently featured. However, it's not up to me to release that information, so I'm not going to. If you are interested enough, however, between this thread and the other Astak thread, you can track down the information.

19! I would have responded sooner but I'm out of town. Just checking in on the B&B wifi. The new EZReader site is very handsome, but checking it on Firefox 2.0 on the 7" screen on my EEE PC 701, it doesn't work very well. One of these days I have to put eeebuntu on it.

There was also a video on youtube featuring Astak EZ Reader on some fair or show. The EZ Reader was presented by a man that said he was Robert and he looked just like in the photo on the blog. ;-)
