Thanks for the heads-up. I'll give it a miss too.

While I'm here, is the current one 'The Manchurian Candiate'?

No and very far from it. Its film director has stirred some controversy as of late.

I don't think I'll take a whack at this one either. I'm not all that into movies with a lot of violence. Unless it is directed at some idiot group of teenagers who all decide to split up an explore the spooky old house (island .... whatever) each on their own, knowing full well that an axe murder is there. That's something I can get behind.

I don't remember the scenes with the animal cruelty. Maybe there were some, but they left no memory. And I have to say that I'm pretty sensitive to animal cruelty too, I don't even tolerate horse-races because of that. But suit yourself.

After seeing Ricky's post, I read a review that talked about it.

Apparently the animal cruelty scenes were cut for theatrical distribution and are only available in the director's cut version (why anybody would want that as an extra I have no clue). Looks interesting though, I'll see if I can locate a copy without the animal cruelty scenes and give it a whirl.

There is close to zero violence in the film.

I've never seen of his.

Is it his new one 'AntiChrist'?

No, it's quite a bit older than that.

Edit: and you should definitely go see "Antichrist". Even if you hate it, you will still take something with you from the film, I think.

For me nothing will surpass 'The Hunger' for unexpected vampire movie of its day. Still love it.

ugh, lars von trier, my nemesis. i loathe that man with a white-hot passion and wish he had just become a suicidal alcoholic instead of inflicting his misery on the rest of humanity via the cinema. everyone always says "...whatever you think, his films won't leave you indifferent !!" well trust me, after seeing his films, i realised there was something to be said for indifference.
